Game News
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dontae Johnson, who lost his mother Holli Garner today. Dontae is as good of a person whom I've ever encountered. His Mom must have been special to raise such a fine young man. We grieve with Dontae and his family tonight. ðŸ™â¤ï¸
George Kittle is an absolutely animal. WHAT A CATCH.
Groin injury
49ers’ WR Deebo Samuel, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a groin injury, will play vs. the Bengals, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: It's unclear at this point if Samuel will be limited but his return throws cold water on the value of running back Jeff Wilson as Samuel has seen work in the backfield the last few weeks and has a nose for the endzone. Deebo is a risky WR2 against the Bengals in Week 14.
14 sacks for Nick Bosa now in a post-ACL season
Jimmy Garoppolo had to throw 41 times and the 49ers won
"You're not supposed to reach the ball for the pylon, but nobody said anything because I scored" — #49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk on his game-winning touchdown in overtime. pic.twitter.com/vXBLkJrujY
So many huge plays for 49ers in crunch time. Robbie Gould's miss came in the midst of them, so SF had to work overtime. A sampling: -Garoppolo to Kittle on third down, what a catch -Bosa third-down sack -Garoppolo to Jennings grown-man grab -10 to 85 twice more -Aiyuk walk off
It should be, but Garoppolo's release gives him a chance even behind a porous line. The 49ers made a big deal of that ability today after the game. But it remains key for the 49ers to return Elijah Mitchell and maximize what their O-line does best (run block) twitter.com/GeraldBag/stat…
Alex Mack is all of us rn 😂 #ProBowlVote pic.twitter.com/0t4exNyQOf
With the 49ers placing Emmanuel Moseley on injured reserve and Dontae Johnson not being with the team in Cincinnati for personal reasons, they will be without two cornerbacks who would have started today against the Bengals. San Francisco shorthanded in the secondary.
#49ers @DignityHealth Injury Update: Azeez Al-Shaair has been downgraded to OUT. #SFvsCIN
Fred Warner: "In terms of growth as a team, getting a win like that does a lot for the growth and maturity of a team… those scrappy ones, they mean the most."
Man, Jauan Jennings has grown up this past month
The Kittle no-call combined with the Ambry Thomas INT nullifier is a brutal two-play combo for the 49ers
Tom Compton -- that's right, I said it: Tom Compton -- delivers they key blocks on the two long runs of that drive. (He's actually been a good run blocker this year).
Kyle Shanahan meets with the media following #SFvsCIN. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Bengals special teams . . . look like the 49ers circa Week 13. Trent Sherfield with the recovery of another muffed punt.
Trent Williams' holding penalty nullifies JaMycal Hasty's third-down reception. Third and 14.
River Cracraft, in Richie James' old No. 13, scooped up that special teams fumble for the 49ers
Oof. Ambry Thomas penalties have wiped out a Jimmie Ward INT and Bosa's 13th sack.
DeMeco Ryans, take a bow. He saved a lethal bullet for when it mattered most: That K'Waun Williams blitz stops Cincinnati #49ers
It's hard to overstate how vital D.J. Jones' surge has been for the 49ers. Remember their defense had been crippled up the middle after Javon Kinlaw's injury. Jones playing top-notch ball is solving a lot of problems twitter.com/LombardiHimsel…
Are these Mitch Wishnowsky knuckle punts? Where is @MaioccoNBCS on this?
Samson Ebukam with his second sack of the season.
Bengals work to get Hendrickson off Trent Williams by looping him inside and it pays off on the first third down of the game with a sack. Nine straight games with a sack for him.
Arden Key an inch away from 4th and 10. Next play a TD over Ambry Thomas.
How many bullets does DeMeco Ryans have left? If the 49ers offense does its job, we won't have to find out
Arik Armstead back-to-back tackles forces Bengals to punt opening series after halftime -- and Aiyuk doesn't muff the return like the Bengals have done twice
The Cincinnati Bengals should have two of their biggest offensive stars on the field when they host the San Francisco 49ers today.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Tee Higgins are expected to suit up.
Higgins, who led the team in receiving last week with nine catches for 138 yards and a touchdown during a loss to the Chargers, spent all week nursing an ankle injury. A horsecollar tackle that got him hurt resulted in a fine for the Chargers player
#Bengals with three straight runs coming out of halftime and they punt. Of course, when you have Joe Burrow and an awful collection of DBs to throw against, you just pound it at Fred Warner. Gross.
9ï¸âƒ£ games in a row with a sack for Trey Hendrickson 🤯 pic.twitter.com/KHj2SLw49Q

Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase on his TD catch that was overturned because the ball hit hte ground: "I still think it was a g--d--- catch."
Rookie Evan McPherson makes this overtime field goal, a 41-yarder, and now San Francisco must score a FG at least to extend the game.
And Darius Phillips drops the punt. Wow. 49ers ball. That is on the staff sending him back out there with the injury and issues he's already had.
DeMeco Ryans used that K'Waun Williams blitz bullet twice in crunch time and it worked both times. First time, Williams notched the sack himself. Second time, Williams blitz forced C.J. Uzomah out of double-team help for Nick Bosa, who beat Isaiah Prince in the resulting 1-on-1
Zac Taylor certainly indicates that he regrets the lack of aggressiveness to close Cincinnati's offensive drive in overtime.
HALFTIME: 49ers 17, #Bengals 6. Might be time to find ANYONE else to return kicks. Tyler Boyd needs to be your punt returner and probably need to go to Trayveon Williams on KR. Cincy is inches away from 4 turnovers on kick returns.
Time to divvy up responsibility on the 49ers 17 points: Darius Phillips: 6 Vonn Bell: 4 SF: 7
Bengals fans just sarcastically cheered when Stanley Morgan let that kickoff bounce in the end zone.
Bengals CB Mike Hilton notes a lack of urgency in the game, which has been a fairly common theme throughout this season.
Injury Update: No. 71 Riley Reiff has a left ankle injury. His return is questionable.
#Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie is ACTIVE today against the 49ers. Was a gametime decision.
Injury Update: No. 20 Eli Apple has a right ankle injury. His return is questionable.
The Cincinnati Bengals, as expected, will be without starting linebacker Logan Wilson against the San Francisco 49ers.
Wilson is one of several names the team made inactive for Sunday afternoon’s kickoff:
With Bailey also unable to go due to a stinger he suffered last week, it will be backup Joe Bachie pitching in alongside Germaine Pratt.
Fans will notice Joe Mixon and Tee Higgins aren’t inactive, which means they should be good to go despite illness and ankle issues, respectively. Also a game-time decision was cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, but he’ll be out there against the 49ers, too
Jessie Bates just dropped what might have been a walk-off pick 6. Wow.
Sam Hubbard: "A playoff game basically. Games going forward are going to be that intense."
B.J. Hill is having himself a hell of a game. His sack will force a punt back to Bengals with chance to tie it up.
Nope. It's Brandon Allen. Warner calls tails. It's heads. #Bengals take the ball, heading toward the river
