Impacts: The six-time Pro Bowl lineman has a chronic spinal condition and will decide in a few months whether to return next season or retire.

Analysis: Moss has one superb outing and two decent games this season, and he could be in for a gem in Week 9 if he can take advantage of the sub-par Falcons pass defense. Start Moss as a nice low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option

Santana Moss will be used as a "change-of-pace" punt returner going forward. Antwaan Randle El has lost his punt returner job to DeAngelo Hall already, but Moss will be back there in some crucial situations. Moss had six catches for 74 yards Monday in a 27-17 loss to the Eagles.

Impacts: Moss failed to reach the end zone and didn't show much improvement under new play caller Sherm Lewis, who has been with the Redskins for only three weeks after being lured out of a retirement consisting of bingo-calling and serving Meals on Wheels.

Coach Jim Zorn told backup Todd Collins to "be ready" Monday night, sources told Jason Reid of the Washington Post. Jason Campbell was named the starter by Zorn, but he'll clearly be on a very short leash. Zorn knows that a loss to the Eagles would be the final nail in his already built coffin. Collins replaced Jason Campbell in the second half on Sunday. He completed six of 14 passes for 75 yards.

Ladell Betts had zero rushes in the team's Monday night loss. Betts did add three catches for 21 yards in the loss, though. He has been a non-factor this season in a brutal Washington offense and is not a fantasy option.

Analysis: Betts has 15 grabs for 150 yards on the year and has been used much more as a pass catcher than running back of late. This hurts his Fantasy value. He's at best a handcuff to Clinton Portis and should not be owned in most Fantasy leagues at this point. The Redskins are on bye Week 8

News: Redskins RB Ladell Betts caught two passes for 11 yards Week 6 in a loss to the Chiefs. He also rushed once for 1 yard.

Analysis: Betts has 12 receptions for 129 yards this season but only 11 carries for 21 yards on the ground. At this point it is obvious that he is too seldom used in the offense to be a worthy Fantasy option Week 7 against the Eagles

Rick Maese and Mike Wise, of The Washington Post, report Washington Redskins OL Will Montgomery will start at right guard in Week 6.

Redskins guard Will Montgomery will get the first crack at replacing Randy Thomas (triceps), who is expected to miss the season. The Redskins could also turn to Chad Rinehart. Pete Kendall is out there but according to the Washington Times, the 'Skins "don't seem inclined" to bring him back. G Will Montgomery is a "near-lock" to earn the Redskins' final backup spot on the offensive line. Montgomery battled Rueben Riley and D'Anthony Batiste throughout camp and impressed coach Jim Zorn the most. "Will has made his move that he's going to be part of this team. Syracuse junior WR Mike Williams has reportedly quit the team for undisclosed reasons. Williams did not play last year because of academic problems and was suspended from Syracuse's game against Akron two weeks ago for violating team policy. Williams, a redshirt junior has one year of eligibility but is expected to declare for the draft.

The Washington Redskins have shaken up their offensive line, inserting Williams at right guard and putting Chad Rinehart on the inactive list against Carolina.

Impacts: Williams has battled weight issues and hasn't played in a game since the 2005 season. He has also played only tackle in the past.

In his first start since 2005, Mike Williams is getting the nod over Chad Rinehart at right guard for the Redskins Sunday. We can't wait until he and Panthers DT Hollis Thomas practice their sumo routine in the middle. Williams' start says a lot about the lack of progress of 2008 third-rounder Rinehart. Fred Davis stayed in Washington with tight ends coach Scott Wachenheim during the team's bye to work on Davis' blocking. Davis and Wachenheim met for 2 1/2 hours last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to get the new starter's fundamentals right. Davis, an excellent pass-catcher, will be the Redskins' primary tight end with Chris Cooley out at least three more weeks.
