Texas catcher Mike Napoli was given the day off on Sunday in Houston. He's been slumping for Texas batting .221 with no homers and four RBI in his last 20 games. He's also had a .294 slugging percentage over that span. In fact, Napoli's last homer came on April 25. "I don't know ... sometimes I feel comfortable and sometimes I don't," Napoli said. ARLINGTON - There are clouds packed in above Rangers Ballpark in Arlington Friday afternoon, but as of 4:10, there was no rain on the field. The tarp was off, though the Rangers are not expected to hit outside due to their late arrival home (approximately 2:45 a.m. CDT) Friday morning.
Manager Ron Washington said on Thursday that he reserved the right to change his mind about his catching plans for the opener of the series with Los Angeles after saying he tentatively planned to go with Mike Napoli. He exercised that right by putting Napoli at first base and moving Yorvit Torrealba behind the plate after Torrealba broke from a slump in the Thursday doubleheader
