Tobias Rieder has agreed to a professional tryout with the Anaheim Ducks. Rieder will attend training camp with the Ducks and try to earn his next NHL contract. He supplied five goals and seven points in 44 games with the Buffalo Sabres last season.

Carter Hutton announced his retirement on Tuesday. "Honestly, I’ve been preparing myself for hockey to be over in some aspect for a while,†Hutton told the Chronicle Journal. “The NHL has evolved into a young man’s league. The average age in the league is now in the early 20s, so I knew that this job wouldn’t be a lifelong one for me. Ultimately, I suffered an ankle injury in early 2021, which made the decision a lot easier for me. It restricted a lot of the mobility I needed to be as effective as I once was. This, compiled with a few other things, helped me decide on retirement." The 36-year-old netminder played in 235 career NHL contests over 10 season, while posting a mark of 94-90-27 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.

I'm of the exact opposite mind. McCabe is 33 and has tough miles on his body. His public stats and microstats are almost all in decline (some of that could be coaching, but this is true even vs. 24/25). Four years left on his deal. If there's a positive-value out, consider it.

Carter Hutton announced his retirement on Tuesday. "Honestly, I’ve been preparing myself for hockey to be over in some aspect for a while,†Hutton told the Chronicle Journal. “The NHL has evolved into a young man’s league. The average age in the league is now in the early 20s, so I knew that this job wouldn’t be a lifelong one for me. Ultimately, I suffered an ankle injury in early 2021, which made the decision a lot easier for me. It restricted a lot of the mobility I needed to be as effective as I once was. This, compiled with a few other things, helped me decide on retirement." The 36-year-old netminder played in 235 career NHL contests over 10 season, while posting a mark of 94-90-27 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
