The Associated Press reports that New York Mets SP John Maine allowed one run on five hits over seven innings Friday, Oct. 2, against the Houston Astros. He walked none and struck out seven, improving to 7-6 on the season. Maine improved to 4-1 with a 3.28 ERA in five career starts versus Houston, and became the first Mets pitcher since Sid Fernandez in 1990 to win six consecutive home starts.
