Catcher Paul Phillips has signed a one-year contract to stay with the Rockies, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: It's a minor league contract that will pay him $450,000 if he's added to the major league roster. Chris Iannetta will be the Rockies starter in 2010.

Troy E. Renck, of The Denver Post, reports Colorado Rockies 3B Garrett Atkins, RP Taylor Buchholz, 2B Clint Barmes, SP Jorge De La Rosa, SP Jason Hammel, C Chris Iannetta, OF Matt Murton, OF Ryan Spilborghs and RP Huston Street are all eligible for arbitration this year. The team is expected to approach Barmes with a multi-year deal.

Iannetta to be starter next season

According to InsidetheRockies.com, catcher Chris Iannetta will be the team's starter behind the plate next season. Iannetta began this season as the starter, but was replaced by Yorvit Torrealba as the everyday man in the second half.

Our View: Many thought Iannetta was primed for a breakout offensive season this year, but he was a huge disappointment. At times he showed the power that was expected, but his .228 average just wasn't good enough. He might worth a late-round gamble again next season, but fantasy owners should put all their eggs in his basket again.
