NASCAR happy with pack racing, plans no rules changes, despite wreckfest
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR officials saw three major wrecks in Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout, damaging at least 22 of the 25 cars in the field and highlighted by Jeff Gordon’s car sliding on its side before rolling onto its roof. But when they look at whether they need to change the rules package heading into the remainder of Speedweeks – the Daytona 500 qualifying races Thursday and then the big show on Sunday – they look more closely at how the drivers got into those wrecks than just the fact that they occurred.
