Luis Castillo flashes vintage ace form following his trade to first-place Chicago

Castillo delivered a vintage performance in his first home start for the first-place White Sox (62-57), carving up Cincinnati across seven scoreless, one-hit frames with a season-high 10 strikeouts. Over his last 14 days, the veteran right-hander has recorded a stellar 0.91 WHIP and 15 punchouts across 11 innings, instantly solidifying a key role in Chicago's playoff push.

Although an inconsistent summer left him with a 5.08 ERA on the season, Wednesday's gem showed that positive regression toward our projected 3.76 ERA and 1.19 WHIP is well underway. His double-digit strikeout upside remains intact, and now re-energized in a new environment, this recent surge looks like a genuine return to form rather than a flash in the pan.

With his masterpiece against the Reds already in the books, Castillo has wrapped up his scheduled starts for the week as the White Sox gear up for a weekend series in Detroit. Fantasy managers who reaped the benefits of his dominant start should keep him locked into standard mixed-league rotations moving forward. Start.
