Kenley Jansen stumbles in rehab assignment as fantasy managers await his return from the injured list.

The veteran right-hander remains sidelined on the injured list with groin and pelvic inflammation, and his recovery hit a roadblock on June 10 during a rough rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo where he allowed three runs while recording just two outs. In his absence, Kyle Finnegan has stepped into the closer role for the Detroit Tigers, who currently sit fifth in the AL Central with a 28-40 record. Prior to his injury, Jansen had notched seven saves in 18 appearances but struggled with a 5.29 ERA.

Despite a high 5.29 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over his 13.6 innings this season, Jansen's underlying metrics show some promise with a strong 12.57 K/9 rate. Our models still project a solid rest-of-season bounce-back once healthy, expecting him to finish with 22 saves and a stabilized 3.66 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 59 innings. While his recent walk-off home run rate spikes and rough rehab outing are concerning for a 38-year-old, his elite career baseline suggests he will reclaim high-leverage duties once fully fit.

The Tigers wrap up a series against the Twins before heading on the road to face the Guardians this weekend. Because Jansen is still working his way back and needs to shake off the rust from his latest minor league stumble, he cannot be trusted in active lineups.
