Aroldis Chapman | Fantasy Outlook

Aroldis Chapman remains an elite, lock-and-load closer option despite Boston's division struggles.

The veteran left-hander has been virtually unhittable over the last 30 days, posting a microscopic 0.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts while solidifying his 13 saves on the year. Despite the fifth-place Red Sox (27-36) sitting at the bottom of the AL East division, Chapman continues to thrive as the locked-in primary closer. Recent bullpen injuries to Garrett Whitlock and Jovani Moran only solidify his heavy high-leverage workload.

Chapman's current 0.47 ERA and 0.94 WHIP on the year are well ahead of our rest-of-season projection of a 3.00 ERA. While some slight regression toward his career norms is inevitable, his underlying metrics—including a stellar 12.19 K/9—suggest his elite performance is no fluke. Even at age 38, he remains a highly sustainable source of saves and strikeout volume.

Looking at the week ahead, the Red Sox have six games scheduled, featuring a road series against Tampa Bay followed by a home set against Texas. Our models project Chapman to log around 3.1 innings with 3.6 strikeouts and 1.5 saves. Keep him active as a premier weekly Start in all fantasy formats.
