Aroldis Chapman | Fantasy Outlook

Aroldis Chapman Remains an Elite Late-Inning Force for Struggling Red Sox

Chapman has been pristine lately, maintaining a 0.00 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP with 10 strikeouts over his last seven innings of work. The fifth-place Red Sox are currently enduring a four-game losing streak, limiting save opportunities, but Chapman's role as the primary closer is completely secure. His job security is further insulated with fellow reliever Jovani Moran currently sidelined on the injured list.

Under the hood, Chapman's current 0.47 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through 19.2 innings are reminiscent of his stellar 1.23 ERA campaign last year. While some regression toward our projected 3.00 rest-of-season ERA is expected due to a slightly elevated walk rate, his elite 12.19 K/9 and dominant history suggest he will remain a premium source of saves and strikeouts.

Looking at the weekend ahead, the Red Sox host Texas for three games beginning June 12. Facing vulnerable Rangers starters like Jack Leiter and Nathan Eovaldi should keep Boston competitive and yield save chances, while our weekly projection expects Chapman to deliver 1.5 saves and solid strikeout numbers. Start him in all active fantasy lineups.
