Discussing some of the best MLB performances from May 2.

There were just six MLB games played on Thursday, May 2. There’s still some notable performances we need to discuss though.

Marlins 5, Rockies 4 (10 inn.)

Miami scored once in the 10th inning to earn a walk-off win over Colorado.

Josh Bell hit a solo homer for Miami, while also drawing a walk. Luis Arraez led the Marlins with two hits and runs scored. 

Jesus Sanchez drove in two runs on a hit, while Bryan De La Cruz and Dane Myers each got on base twice and scored once. Myers also stole a base.

Edward Cabrera started for Miami, striking out nine over four innings. He allowed four runs on three hits and four walks. Burch Smith picked up his first win after striking out a pair of batters in the 10th inning.

Jacob Stallings hit a three-run homer for Colorado among his two hits. Brendan Rodgers added two hits and scored a run. Ryan McMahon walked twice.

Peter Lambert started and allowed four runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. He gave up five hits and three walks, while striking out three.

Justin Lawrence took the loss after allowing the unearned run in the 10th.

Orioles 7, Yankees 2

Jorge Mateo, Ryan Mountcastle and Ryan McKenna all hit solo home runs for Baltimore. Mountcastle finished with two hits, RBIs and runs scored, while Mateo drove in two runs.

Jordan Westburg drove in a pair on two hits and scored once for the Orioles. 

Kyle Bradish came off the injured list and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing a run on four hits and two walks, while striking out five. Keegan Akin got the win after getting the next four outs.

Carlos Rodon started and was dealt the loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over just four innings. He struck out six along the way.

Gleyber Torres hit a solo homer and walked once for New York. Juan Soto had two hits, while Alex Verdugo reached base twice.

Mets 7, Cubs 6 (11 inn.)

New York won a wild back-and-forth game over Chicago. 

Francisco Lindor drove in four runs on two doubles (one being a game-winning, two-RBI double) and scored once for New York. Brandon Nimmo drove in two runs on two hits and also walked once. Harrison Bader had two knocks and scored three runs. 

Brett Baty walked twice and scored two runs for the Mets. DJ Stewart also drew two walks.

Adrian Houser started and allowed four runs over five innings. He gave up four hits and walks, while striking out just two.

Danny Young got his first win despite allowing an unearned run in the top of the 11th inning.

Christopher Morel hit a three-run homer, stole a base and walked once for Chicago. Pete Crow-Armstrong drove in two runs on two hits, while Michael Busch had two knocks and a run. 

Patrick Wisdom reached base twice, stole a base and went on to score two runs. Nico Hoerner got on base three times, stole two bases and scored once. Mike Tauchman reached twice, while Ian Happ walked twice, stole a base and scored a run.

Ben Brown started and lasted just 4 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits and five walks, while striking out five. Richard Lovelady was charged with a blown save before Daniel Palencia gave up the winning runs and took the loss.

Giants 3, Red Sox 1

Mike Yastrzemski hit a solo homer for San Francisco. Wilmer Flores and Matt Chapman each reached base twice, with Chapman also scoring once. 

Kyle Harrison started and pitched the first five innings, allowing a run on three hits and five walks. He struck out seven.

Ryan Walker got the win out of the bullpen, and Camilo Doval earned his sixth save after pitching the ninth.

Tyler O'Neill reached base three times and drove in a run for Boston. 

Josh Winckowski started and worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing a run on two hits and walks. He failed to record a strikeout. Zack Kelly took the loss out of the bullpen.

Rangers 6, Nationals 0

Travis Jankowski drove in two runs on a hit for Texas. Jonah Heim had an RBI on two hits, while walking once and scoring twice.

Josh Smith reached base twice and went on to score two runs. Nathaniel Lowe also got on twice, stole a base and scored a run.

Nathan Eovaldi improved to 2-2 after striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits and walks.

Mitchell Parker was the Washington starter, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out five over 5 1/3 innings.

Nick Senzel was the only Washington player to reach base twice, walking both times.

Astros 8, Guardians 2

Jon Singleton hit a two-run homer among his two hits, drove in three runs total and scored twice for Houston. Jose Altuve had three hits, two stolen bases, an RBI and a run scored.

Jeremy Pena added two hits, a stolen base, an RBI and scored twice for the Astros. Yainer Diaz drove in a pair on a hit. Jake Meyers reached base twice and scored a run.

Spencer Arrighetti started and worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks. He struck out six batters. Tayler Scott got the win out of the pen.

Logan Allen took the loss for Cleveland, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walks. He struck out five.

Will Brennan posted three hits for the Guardians, while Andres Gimenez drove in a run on two knocks. Brayan Rocchio got on base twice and scored a run.
