Last week, Atlanta came in at No. 21.

Today, they’re all the way up to No. 16, thanks to their narrow win over Tampa Bay. Here’s what they’re saying about the 2-4 Falcons.

Matt Ryan’s 2016 season was starting to look like major statistical outlier, but this year’s numbers approaching or exceeding MVP levels.

You can criticize this team at a number of different levels, but one thing you can’t do is pin the blame on Matt Ryan. He’s playing as well as he possibly can under the circumstances and proving his MVP campaign was no fluke. Even a perfect quarterback couldn’t overcome all these injuries, though]]> 5332162 Tue, 16 Oct 2018 9:09:01 EDT Falcons Wire

Despite a last-second lateral sequence nearly working, Atlanta earned a 34-29 victory against their NFC South division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The win brings the Falcons to a 2-4 regular season record, and perhaps just as importantly, an optimistic look ahead.

Here is a recap of how the team performed in all three phases.

Matt Ryan continued his stellar start to the season, completing 31 of 41 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns. Through six games, Ryan has completed 68.1 percent of his passes, tallied 1601 passing yards with 11 touchdowns to go with only two interceptions]]> 5330689 Sun, 14 Oct 2018 18:39:01 EDT Falcons Wire

It’s not often you’ll see a quarterback playing as well as Matt Ryan is with a losing record. Today, Ryan was nearly perfect, going 31-for-41 for 354 yards with three touchdowns, and his team just barely squeaked by. On the season, Ryan has 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Despite Atlanta’s slow start, they are not out of the hunt with Ryan playing at an MVP level]]> 5330622 Sun, 14 Oct 2018 17:57:01 EDT Falcons Wire
<![CDATA[Stays hot as Falcons win]]> Ryan completed 31-of-41 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns as the Falcons defeated Tampa Bay 34-29 on Sunday.

So long as the Falcons can stay in playoff contention with Ryan playing at this level, the 10-year veteran is going to mount a legitimate argument to earn his second MVP award in three seasons. Ryan has thrown for 250-plus yards in every game this season, with at least 354 passing yards in three of the past four contests. He also has more touchdowns in a four-week span (12) than he's had during any stretch since Week 14-Week 17 of his 2016 MVP campaign. Next come the Giants and a secondary that Carson Wentz recently tore up for 278 passing yards and three touchdowns.
