Olsen could hardly get anything going downfield, but he still came through with one of the biggest catches of the game for a four-yard touchdown to put his team ahead with just over a minute left on the clock. He made more of an impact last week in his return from an injury, so perhaps his lack of catches and yardage can be chalked up to a matchup against a Philadelphia defense that ranks among the best in the league at limiting opposing tight ends. Olsen is also likely still working his way back into the offense and will look to produce more against the Ravens next Sunday.

Benefiting from the Panthers' Week 4 bye, Olsen only missed three games due to a fracture in his right foot. During his return to action Sunday at Washington, he logged all but one of the Panthers' 60 snaps on offense, hauling in four of seven passes for 48 yards in the process. Coach Ron Rivera referred to Olsen's limited tag Wednesday as "the new normal," per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer. Such standing may extend into sessions Thursday and Friday, but Olsen's availability on gameday doesn't seem to be in peril.

It’s just too bad the team’s discipline didn’t come along as well.

In a game ultimately defined by miscues, from on the field to the sidelines, a furious fourth-quarter comeback could not save the Panthers in a 23-17 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Carolina’s follies began early and often, starting with a decision to punt away their first possession on a 4th & 1 from their own 47-yard line. Gaining a single yard, especially with a tank of a quarterback, shouldn’t be much to ask for in today’s NFL, where the antiquated ways of fighting for field position are continuing to dissolve in favor of more aggressive play-calling. Alas, no statement made]]> 5330623 Sun, 14 Oct 2018 17:57:01 EDT Panthers Wire

Olsen's "active" announcement is merely a formality, as the tight end was cleared to play earlier in the week but added back to the injury report with a "questionable" designation Friday. While there's always a risk of a setback given that Olsen himself has admitted he will eventually need surgery, the plan is for him to take on as close to a regular workload as possible. The veteran will be matched up against a Washington defense that is in the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy production allowed to tight ends, giving up 7.1 points per contest in standard formats.

<![CDATA[On track to play, start Week 6]]> Olsen (foot), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Redskins, is expected to start the contest, Tiffany Blackmon of NFL Network reports.

Olsen has been targeting Oct. 14 as his return from a fractured right foot for a while now and it appears he'll meet his goal after turning in a pair of full practices Thursday and Friday. Though Olsen still carries an injury designation into the contest, coach Ron Rivera relayed a couple days ago that the tight end would likely be listed as "probable" if the NFL still allowed the designation. With Olsen on track to step back in as the Panthers' starting tight end, rookie Ian Thomas will see his snaps take a hit as a result. Even though Olsen could face more restrictions than normal as he works back from a three-game absence, he'll still profile as a viable fantasy play in light of the underwhelming options at tight end across the league.
