According to Hoyer, Brady had “that look” before sealing the 38-31 victory for the Patriots that helped them advance to Super Bowl LIII. The look that the backup QB had seen many times before. The one that is worn by Brady before he goes out and wins a game]]> 5415830 Mon, 21 Jan 2019 6:18:01 EDT Patriots Wire
<![CDATA[ESPN's Mel Kiper projects Patriots to take Tom Brady's heir in 1st round]]> Tom Brady is 41. Brian Hoyer is 33, and not a promising pick to be the next Patriots franchise quarterback.

In his first mock draft of the year, ESPN’s Mel Kiper projected the Patriots to pick Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. Here’s what Kiper wrote about the Patriots’ first-round pick projection:

Tom Brady is going to be 42 when the 2019 season begins. Forty-two! It’s unbelievable what he’s continuing to do on the field, but the Patriots have to start thinking about the future … right? Jones could be the heir apparent. He has learned from quarterback guru David Cutcliffe at Duke, and you see it in his footwork. He excels in the pocket. Jones is athletic too, and he has a big, 6-foot-4 frame. There’s no guarantee that Jones will be the third quarterback off the board, and you can see more of him at the Senior Bowl next week, but this fit makes a lot of sense.]]> 5413587 Thu, 17 Jan 2019 14:48:01 EDT Patriots Wire
<![CDATA[Could ex-49ers QB coach Rich Scangarello take Garoppolo backup to Broncos?]]> Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard will have a new quarterbacks coach when they report back for the 49ers offseason program in April.

That assumes one of them – particularly Mullens, then Beathard — doesn’t first get dealt to the Denver Broncos, who hired Rich Scangarello on Wednesday as a first-time offensive coordinator.

Scangarello spent the past two years as the 49ers quarterbacks coach. He schooled up a steady rotation of starters, from Brian Hoyer to Beathard to Garoppolo to Beathard again to Mullens, the latter of whom Scangarello campaigned to sign after the Southern Miss quarterback went undrafted in 2017]]> 5413459 Thu, 17 Jan 2019 11:36:01 EDT All Things Broncos
