There will be no more speculating that the Jaguars might push aside Bortles next month and enter the free agent bidding for Kirk Cousins.

If the Jaguars are going to be a Super Bowl team moving forward, it will have to be with Bortles at quarterback.

The Jaguars recommitted themselves Saturday to Bortles as their quarterback — and removed themselves from the pending Cousins sweepstakes — by agreeing with Bortles to a three-year contract extension worth about $54 million, a person familiar with the situation confirmed]]> 5148186 Sun, 25 Feb 2018 19:45:01 EDT All Things Broncos

With his new contract locking him in as the Jaguars' starting quarterback for at least the 2018 campaign, Bortles will turn his focus to getting 100 percent healthy for the start of Jacksonville's offseason program in April. Bortles appeared on the Jaguars' injury report throughout the season while managing the right wrist issue, but didn't miss any action due to the injury, starting all 19 of the Jaguars' regular-season and playoff outings. After undergoing minor surgery to address the matter Jan. 26, Bortles spent the past month rehabbing before heading to California this weekend to begin a limited throwing program. He's expected to remain out west for the next two weeks before being reevaluated by Jacksonville's team doctors prior to Organized Team Activities.

$26.5 million guaranteed, $54 million over three yearsThe Jaguars answered their biggest off-season question Saturday night when they signed quarterback Blake Bortles to a contract extension through the 2020 season. Bortles was due a guaranteed $19 million this year had the Jaguars picked up his option by March 14. Per CBS Sports, Bortles’ deal includes $26.5 million guaranteed and worth $54 million over three years. (Florida Times Union)

FF Today's Take: Bortles had an uneven 2017, starting the year off slow but did manage some solid performances from Week 13 on and was able to get his completion percentage to 60 percent for the first time in his career. He finished 13th in overall fantasy points among QBs but was more of mid-range QB2 in F/Pts per game.
