He threw 6 innings of one run ball, striking out six. At this point, this kind of outing from Griffin feels like the expectation rather than something to be excited about

With his 25th home run of the season in Tuesday’s 8-2 win over the Miami Marlins, Kyle Schwarber became the first player in Phillies history to hit 25 home runs before the All-Star break in three separate seasons. He had 30 in the first half of last season and 29 in his first year with the Phillies in 2022. Through the Phillies’ first 73 games last year, Schwarber had 22 home runs. He finished with 56. He’s at 25 in 73 this season.

It’s been a different kind of June for Schwarber. Typically the best month of his season comes in June, but it was actually his worst month last year. He has been a singles machine this June, raising his batting average from .231 on June 2 to .249. It was at .189 on April 24. Hitting coach Kevin Long said in spring training that Schwarber “wants to be a .270 hitter.” His career high in a season is .266 in 2021.
