Steven Lorentz will draw into the lineup for the Panthers, who posted a 3-2 win over the Lightning in Sunday's opener of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series. On Monday, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that they had recalled defenseman Max Crozier from the Syracuse Crunch. The 24-year-old defenseman joined the team for practice and skated on a pairing with fellow rookie Emil Lilleberg. Fellow blueliner Nick Perbix was not on the ice for the workout due to “maintenance issues” according to the team. While Perbix did miss a shift in the third period, there wasn't a big violent hit that preceded it, nor did he look to be in distress during any of his late game shifts.

Longtime NHL referee Steve Kozari, who left the ice on a stretcher earlier this month, after colliding with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Haydn Fleury during a Pittsburgh Penguins' victory, returned to the ice Sunday, working 137th career Stanley Cup playoff game. Can the Lightning get scoring from players outside of the top line? During the regular season, the Panthers did a pretty decent job of keeping the Lightning's top line off of the scoresheet. Despite the different iterations the top three went through, Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov were together, and with those two together on the ice, the Panthers only allowed one goal at 5v5.

It was only appropriate Brayden Point scored the goal with which Nikita Kucherov picked up his 100th assist. After all, Point has seen first-hand for several years how dedicated Kucherov is to making himself and his teammates better. “He is one of the smartest players in the league and I am really happy for him,” said Point, who put home his team-high 46th goal.
