After their season-opening loss on Oct. 14 to the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Ducks outscored the Golden Knights 13-5 and took the final three games of the season series. The wins were three of the Ducks' best performances of the season. The Golden Knights had a, for lack of a better word, golden opportunity to seal up third place in the Pacific Division.

Cutter Gauthier will make his NHL debut on Thursday, capping off a busy week for the Anaheim Ducks forward. Gauthier signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Ducks on Sunday, caught a flight to Orange County on Monday, and took the ice at Anaheim's practice facility about 12 hours later on Tuesday. Cutter Gauthier is shedding his Eagle wings for Duck ones, signing a three-year entry level contract to take his game to the NHL, and to Anaheim. The Boston College star, whose 38 goals this season were the most by any NCAA player since the 1999-2000 season, signed a professional contract one day after his top-seeded Eagles were upset by Denver, 2-0, in the national championship game. Across two seasons and 73 games at The Heights, Gauthier had 54 goals and 48 assists for 102 points. Ducks winger Jakob Silfverberg announced his retirement Thursday after 12 NHL seasons, 11 of which were spent in Orange County, where he'll play his final home game Friday against Calgary. Silfverberg, who was in the final year of his contract but said he still felt “excited to play,” will be returning to his native Sweden. “I've said it from Day One when we moved (to North America), we had a really special year the last year I left, we ended up winning the championship,” Silfverberg said.
