FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Steelers running back LeVeon Bell, who set team records for rushing in playoff games in the first two rounds, was injured in the first half of the AFC championship against the New England Patriots and did not return. Bell, who practiced only one day last week, injured his groin in the first quarter. He came back in the game for one play, a 2-yard run, and was replaced for the rest of the half by reserve DeAngelo Williams.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a tremendous edge. They can lose perhaps the best running back in the NFL and not miss him much.
The theme of the past couple seasons in Pittsburgh has been that LeVeon Bell is the focal point of the offense, and DeAngelo Williams has played tremendously whenever he has been called upon. That happened again in the AFC championship game.
