Game News
Sam Okuayinonu, fresh off a massive pay raise with his promotion from the practice squad to the 53, delivers a really impressive forced fumble vs Rhamondre Stevenson. It is NOT easy to time and aim that punch when crossing by the running back. Some hand-eye coordination
Former 49ers kicker Joey Slye drills a 63-yard field goal to end his old team's shutout bid
In the first half, the #49ers blitzed Jacoby Brissett on 6 of his 15 dropbacks (40%). Big uptick from the ~14% they've averaged this year.
@nwagoner: #49ers are blitzing at the lowest rate in the league, leaning on the front four to generate pressure. That hasn't happened enough and without Javon Hargrave, it's only going to be tougher, especially if the run defense doesn't improve. A look ahead...

Patriots just got here. First two guys I ran into, coincidentally, were Kendrick Bourne and Austin Hooper. Probably the two strongest Bay Area ties on the road team

This is a big "set the edge" game, and the Pats will have to go without their best edge setter in Anfernee Jennings.
Before Antonio Gibson laces them up Sunday, there will be player prop betting options available for the 4:05 PM ET kickoff, live on FOX. The New England Patriots (1-2) and Gibson face off versus the San Francisco 49ers (1-2) in a Week 4 matchup from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

New England Patriots center David Andrews was spotted heading to the locker room after the first offensive drive in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Per an update from the team, Andrews is officially questionable to return with a shoulder injury.
The Patriots are already down multiple offensive linemen. Cole Strange has been out with a knee injury, and both Vederian Lowe and Michael Jordan were ruled out with injuries against San Francisco.
If Andrews misses time, veteran center Nick Leverett would be the next man up for the Patriots. The team struggled in the preseason whenever Andrews wasn’t on the field, particularly with the snap communication. Multiple mishandled balls led to fumbles for the Patriots
The New England Patriots will be missing a key defensive piece in Sunday’s road clash with the San Francisco 49ers.
Linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who was questionable with a shoulder injury, has been officially ruled out for the Week 4 game. It’s a significant loss along the defensive front for a Patriots team that’s already missing Christian Barmore and Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Along with Jennings, offensive tackle Vederian Lowe and guard Michael Jordan have both been ruled out as well.
However, it isn’t all bad news for the Patriots. Starting guard Sidy Sow is set to make his first start of the season after going down in the preseason with an ankle injury
Will the defense rebound in Week 4 against San Francisco? Plus updates on Drake Maye, Oshane Ximines and Cole Strange.
Brock Purdy: #1 in NFL pass yards Jordan Mason: #1 in NFL rush yards
Fred Warner just gave the 49ers a fiery speech before uniforms even came on. I haven't seen that from him before pic.x.com/2ugmf9ij1x
49ers WR Deebo Samuel, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a calf injury, is expected to play vs. the Patriots, per source.
That's a garbage holding call against George Kittle. Inexcusable with two officials right there
"If you'd looked online, you'd think the building is burning down," Nick Bosa said. So the 49ers star DE had a message in a team meeting: "I told the D-line room last night: 'We've lost some guys, but I haven't lost confidence in this room one bit.' And that's the truth."
Jordan Mason apologized to Kyle Shanahan in the locker room for missing a couple runs. (Mason rushed for 123 yards and leads the NFL)
From @NFLGameDay: #49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is back from Germany and could run on hard ground this week. He should be back, at least, by early November; Meanwhile, #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce remains a key part of their offense, despite the numbers. pic.x.com/aftuy2lqn9
#49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) and LT Trent Williams (illness, toe) are both listed as questionable and both likely to play, sources say. Williams being active could hinge on a pre-game workout, but there is optimism.
Maliek Collins looks like an All-Pro today. New England can't block him in both the run and pass games. Can't overstate how important that is for a 49ers team that just lost Javon Hargrave at DT
Is that the diving catch that gets Brandon Aiyuk out of his funk? Nice play
Kyle Juszczyk finally got to return a punt in an NFL game. There was no way he was calling for a fair catch
That one's gonna keep Malik Mustapha up at night
Here is my important stance on Jauan Jennings: I know why he doesn't get that many targets in a loaded offense but he is a friggin awesome football player.
A change at corner in nickel packages? Sure seemed like one on Sunday. #49ers rookie CB Renardo Green played 23 defensive snaps against the Patriots. Isaac Yiadom played 15.
Statement stop for the 49ers run defense. Maliek Collins
Renardo Green has taken over for Isaac Yiadom -- might be similar to the 49ers' piecemeal insertion of Malik Mustapha and Dee Winters into the lineup
Top two 49ers linebackers are Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and De'Vondre Campbell. This is a real test of depth
Jordan Elliott might've aggravated the ankle injury he suffered in practice on Thursday. Situation at DT grows more precarious
49ers inactives: S Talanoa Hufanga WR Ronnie Bell OL Ben Bartch CB Darrell Luter Jr. Trent Williams, Jordan Elliott, Dee Winters all are set to go. 49ers roster actually in solid shape entering this game
#49ers DTs Kevin Givens and Maliek Collins split a sack on third down. Givens up to 2.5 sacks on the day.
Talanoa Hufanga out on the field early. He's questionable after rolling his ankle in practice. Possibly testing it out right now pic.x.com/hh0xayegsd
Spencer Burford -- 49ers' starting RG from last season -- in for Dominick Puni, who's shaken up.
#49ers WR Jacob Cowing has a shoulder injury. His return is questionable.
Evan Anderson drew a double team on his first career snap. That'll do
#49ers are warming up right now. S Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) is on the field but not going through normal warmups. He's listed as questionable and Niners elevated S Jaylen Mahoney from the practice squad on Saturday.
Isaac Guerendo fumbles the opening kickoff of the second half. The #49ers' special teams woes continue to accumulate.
#49ers settle for a 22-yard field goal from Jake Moody after having goal to go from the 6. They lead 3-0 with 2:26 left in opening quarter.
#49ers starting (base) defense: DE Nick Bosa DT Jordan Elliott DT Maliek Collins DE Leonard Floyd WLB De'Vondre Campbell MLB Fred Warner SLB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles LCB Charvarius Ward FS Ji'Ayir Brown SS Malik Mustapha RCB Deommodore Lenoir
The San Francisco 49ers will officially have wide receiver Deebo Samuel back in action vs. the New England Patriots in Week 4.
Samuel was not among the team’s inactives after being listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. A report came out Saturday night that the 2021 All-Pro planned to play. That is now official.
Not suiting up Sunday is safety Talanoa Hufanga who rolled his ankle in practice Thursday. Hufanga returned in Week 3 after recovering from a torn ACL in Week 11 last season. It’s unclear whether rookie Malik Mustapha or veteran George Odum will start in his stead
