Game News
There is the possibility and even the likelihood that, for the first time this season, the Chargers will have three QBs active today: Justin Herbert, Easton Stick and Taylor Heinicke.
@AdamSchefter: Chargers QB Justin Herbert, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a high ankle sprain, is preparing to play vs. the Steelers, but the team is not expected to make a decision on its starting QB until pre-game warmups, per sources. While Herbert being healthy enough to play is clearly the preferred option, the team has contingencies that involve both Easton Stick and Taylor Heinicke.

Ruled out for the rest of the day: --#Eagles RT Lane Johnson (concussion) --#Chargers LB Joey Bosa (hip)
RT: our inactives for #LACvsPIT: WR Joshua Palmer LB Junior Colson CB Tarheeb Still RB Kimani Vidal OL Jordan McFadden DL Justin Eboigbe
RT: Chargers are currently down Joe Alt, Rashawn Slater, Joey Bosa, and Justin Herbert. So...just their best players.
T.J Watt cashes in big time with a third-down sack of Taylor Heinicke
Ladd McConkey has a massive 27% target share this season. Unfortunately, that's led to only 17 targets in the low-volume, run-heavy Chargers' offense.
And now a holding against Asante Samuel Jr. negates a third-down sack and gives the Steelers another first down.

Justin Fields has turned the ball over for the first time this season.
After the Steelers took over on the Chargers 41 yard line following a short punt by JK Scott and penalty on cornerback Deane Leonard, Fields dropped back on first and 10 to start the Steelers drive. He scanned the field and looked for a sit route on the left side, a play that Pittsburgh had run with great success so far in the game.
Linebacker Daiyan Henley was there this time, however, and his arrival to the ball popped the pass into the air. Steelers running back Najee Harris leaped up to try to make the catch with two Chargers defenders in the area, tipping the ball into the air further. Eventually, the ball landed in the arms of Bud Dupree, who was in the game to replace an injured Joey Bosa

#Steelers QB Justin Fields is now 3-0 to start the year as Pittsburgh's starter. His day today vs. LA: - 25/32 - 245 passing yards - 2 total TDs - 1 INT - 96.0 passer rating pic.x.com/nnguwju0sd
Sources: #Steelers impressive rookie RT Troy Fautanu, who was placed on IR this week, suffered what is essentially a dislocated kneecap and will have surgery to repair the ligament damage. Fautanu is out for the regular season, tho could return if PIT makes the playoffs. pic.x.com/scilio6eqk

Once again, Russell Wilson is inactive (Edit: But will act as the emergency third QB again).
@steelers: Inactives for #LACvsPIT ? @UPMCSportsMed https://t.co/CM5IcmKM24
Injuries to watch: -- #Steelers LB Alex Highsmith has a groin injury and is doubtful to return. -- #Eagles OT Lane Johnson is evaluated for a concussion. -- #Giants CB Dru Phillips (calf) is questionable to return.
The Steelers grinding out clock behind Cordarrelle Patterson is fantastic. What an impressive afternoon from Pittsburgh.
Nifty play design as Justin Fields fakes the handoff to Jaylen Warren and keeps it for the five-yard touchdown -- the Steelers' first rushing TD of the season. 7-7, 10:17 2Q
Roman Wilson is inactive vs Chargers despite being a full participant in Friday's practice.
Cory Trice has a hamstring injury and his return is DOUBTFUL
Mason McCormick is in for Spencer Anderson. Not sure what happened, but Anderson is on the sideline. Looks like he might be moving with a little limp, but there hasn't been an injury update.
How about that, a big Justin Fields to George Pickens play that doesn't get called back.
Chris Boswell's kick is just wide right, but that was about as close as I've seen a 62-yarder. 10-7 Chargers at half.
Steelers defense more than holding up its end in the second half with back-to-back three-and-outs featuring big time sacks by Nick Herbig and Elandon Roberts. Chargers' punt goes a little bit better this time around and the Steelers will start the drive at the 15.
Nick Herbig, who's even more important with Highsmith sidelined, gets a big time strip sack, though the Chargers recover the fumble
Van Jefferson has an eye injury and his return is questionable.
once again, Russell Wilson will be inactive and serve as the emergency third quarterback. Other inactives: CB Darius Rush, FS Terrell Edmunds, OG Isaac Seumalo and TE MyCole Pruitt.
Steelers at the 12 when play resumes in the fourth quarter. Fields is 21/27, 175 yards, a rushing TD and a fluke INT. Run game picked up - Najee Harris has 21 yards on 12 carries
After missing two plays, Donte Jackson is back in.

Patrick Queen let an interception slip right through his hands, but it won’t stop him from celebrating the Pittsburgh Steelers win.
Queen, Pittsburgh’s leading tackler in Week 3, posted to X: “Set the tone baby!! God is Good! 3-0.”
In their home opener, the Steelers took it to the Los Angeles Chargers in their most balanced game of this early season. 3-0 is their best record since the 2020 season when Pittsburgh went 11-0 before dropping five of the final six games, including the Wild Card round versus the Cleveland Browns
It’s only Week Three of the NFL season but there has still been plenty of drama on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Injuries throughout the offseason have disrupted the Steelers roster plans and this week against the Los Angeles Chargers is no different.
There are really three guys who we want to keep a close eye on this week for the Steelers. One who is coming back from injury, one with a new lease on life as he gets back into the starting lineup and one big-time free-agent addition who hasn’t produced.
An injury to Troy Fautanu gives offensive tackle Broderick Jones a chance at redemption after being benched last week. We saw good Broderick Jones last season and maybe this week, against a huge challenge of the Chargers defense we will see him again
Quentin Johnston is on a tear.
After scoring two touchdowns against the Panthers, Johnston opened the scoring for Los Angeles in Week 3 versus Pittsburgh, giving the Chargers a 7-0 lead.
On a second and 9 from the the Steelers 27 yard line, Herbert took a shotgun snap and looked towards the flat. Pittsburgh’s cornerback drove on the shallow route underneath, leaving Johnston open down the sideline. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was late to rotate over and Johnston made the easy catch and outran Fitzpatrick to the end zone
As if Pittsburgh Steelers’ injury concerns couldn’t get any worse, wide receiver Van Jefferson has been pulled from the game with an eye injury and is questionable to return.
This comes after rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson was deemed inactive to start the Week 3 game, leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers with only three wide receivers active for the game: George Pickens, Calvin Austin, and Scotty Miller. So far we have seen Miller more involved in the offense.
Van Jefferson has an eye injury and his return is questionable
