@RashidShaheed You up right now, call Carr while he’s sleeping & say “I’m Open” then hang up, you have to play psychological warfare & it will remain prevalent during games subconsciously, it worked for me.
— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) September 18, 2023

Yikes. The New Orleans Saints announced that veteran running back Jamaal Williams was questionable to return against the Carolina Panthers on Monday night after suffering a hamstring injury — meaning practice squad call-up Tony Jones Jr. was their only other option. Williams exited after picking up 29 yards on 9 carries. Jones had gained 6 yards on 2 tries.
Rookie draft pick Kendre Miller was inactive with his own hamstring injury. Kirk Merritt, another running back on the depth chart (who played wide receiver last year), was a healthy scratch. And Alvin Kamara is, of course, still in the middle of his three-game suspension. So the Saints were left with only Jones

The New Orleans Saints announced they are elevating practice squad running back Tony Jones Jr. again for Week 2’s game with the Carolina Panthers on Monday night, suggesting Kendre Miller will have to wait a little longer to make his debut.
Jones gained 5 yards on his sole rushing attempt in Week 1 but totaled just 7 snaps on offense in the game while playing behind Jamaal Williams. If Miller’s injured hamstring is going to keep him on the sidelines again this week, expect a similar workload for the veteran backup. Miller practiced on a limited basis and is officially questionable to play

The No. 1 pick couldn't get much going against the Saints defense, while Chris Olave starred for New Orleans.

Tony Jones Jr. ran for two touchdowns, rookie Blake Grupe kicked two field goals and the New Orleans Saints defeated the Carolina Panthers 20-17 on Monday night to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2013.

The New Orleans Saints are looking for their first 2-0 start since 2013 with a win over the Carolina Panthers. In order to come out victorious, the Saints have to be able to handle the pressure of the Panthers defensive line. Last week, the Saints struggled to protect Derek Carr at times. The Panthers provide a sort of parallel to the Titans. Both teams have an interior and quick perimeter pass rushing threat.
The Saints will need to block Derrick Brown and Brian Burns more effectively than they blocked Jefferey Simmons and Arden Key. In Week 1, the offense was impacted by the pass rush heavily in the first half. They found a way to protect Carr better in the second half, but the Saints can’t take 30 minutes of football to figure it out again

Leave it to Demario Davis to get his teammates motivated before a big-time game — for him, this is a ritual he enjoys every week. The New Orleans Saints’ Pro Bowl linebacker addressed his team before kickoff with the Carolina Panthers on Monday night to continue a tradition stretching back years

Not much has been cooking for the Carolina Panthers offense in their 2023 home opener, especially for quarterback Bryce Young. But the rookie broke free for one of the most exciting plays of the night.
Down 13-6 to the visiting New Orleans Saints with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, the rookie passer used his legs to rip off a slippery 26-yard run. Young, in the process, put safety Marcus Maye on skates—perhaps reminiscent of something the last great Carolina quarterback used to do.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark is expected to play in tonight’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints. This will be the regular-season (and Panthers) debut of the former Pro Bowler.
#Panthers WR D.J. Chark (questionable, hamstring) is playing tonight vs. Saints, per source. Frank Reich old reporters he was expected to play and is now good to go.
— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) September 18, 2023
Chark, who was officially listed as questionable for the contest, sustained a hamstring injury nearly one month ago. After two days of being marked as a limited participant for practice, he was a full go during Saturday’s session

The Carolina Panthers are currently hurting quite a bit in their offensive trench. So, they called up a reinforcement for the time being.
As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com this afternoon, lineman Justin McCray has been promoted for tonight’s Week 2 matchup against the visiting New Orleans Saints. McCray’s bump up into the Monday night matchup is a standard elevation.
The seventh-year veteran signed on in Carolina this spring. He would then be released during the team’s cutdown to its initial 53-man roster at the end of August and later returned as a member of the practice squad

Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers will have a little more firepower on offense tonight.
As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, and later confirmed by the team’s official release of their inactive list, wide receiver DJ Chark is a go for the Monday night matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
Chark, who missed last week’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a hamstring injury, was listed as questionable coming into the contest. After two limited practices on Thursday and Friday, the 26-year-old pass catcher was a full participant for Saturday’s session

For the second straight week, it doesn’t appear as though the Carolina Panthers will be entering play with a full 53-man roster. They remain one player short just hours ahead of their Monday night matchup with the New Orleans Saints, as cornerback Jaycee Horn was placed on injured reserve this past Friday.
Nonetheless, let’s look at the 52 others the team will have at their disposal as they try to notch their first victory of the 2023 campaign
