Eddie Jackson picks off a deflected pass in the end zone. Kindle Vildor dove to break up a throw for Brandin Cooks. Great play by Vildor. Poor decision by Davis Mills.

Catching up on ex-Bucs in early games -- RB Ronald Jones inactive for third straight game with Chiefs, same for WR Tyler Johnson with Texans. After two TDs in opener, O.J. Howard had one catch for 7 yards last week, and no targets in first half today for Texans.

Ka'imi Fairbairn hits a 39 yd FG and #Texans now lead 17-13, 11:25 remaining 3rd qtr.
That's 14 unanswered points for the Texans. They only needed 4 plays and 41 yards after a 30-yard Desmond King punt return. The Bears' last 3 possessions? 8 total plays, 13 yards, INT, punt, punt. Texans 14, Bears 10
Jerry Hughes believes the Houston Texans are battle tested.
“We understand that we’re going to come in here for any game for four quarters, and we’re going to fight,†the 34-year-old defensive end told reporters following Houston’s 23-20 loss to the Chicago Bears Sunday at Soldier Field.
The Texans held fourth quarter leads through Weeks 1-2, but came away with a tie and a loss. Against the Bears, Houston was tied 20-20 in the fourth quarter, but ultimately gave away the game.
“It’s just about finishing, especially in the later quarters, second half,†said Hughes

The Houston Texans released their inactives ahead of their Week 3 encounter with the Chicago Bears Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at Soldier Field.
Injuries play a big part in determining who was up and who was down on the game day roster.
Defensive tackle Kurt Hinish (foot), tackle Austin Deculus (ankle), cornerback Isaac Yiadom (thigh), and tight end Brevin Jordan (ankle) were inactive due to injury. The only healthy scratches were linebacker Jake Hansen, and receiver Tyler Johnson

The Houston Texans had trouble at tight end heading into Week 3, which necessitated the re-signing of former 2018 third-rounder Jordan Akins to the practice squad.
Akins was called up ahead of the Week 3 tilt with the Chicago Bears, and he made good on his activation as he hauled in a 4-yard touchdown from quarterback Davis Mills late in the first quarter at Soldier Field

My God did the Texans suck on that series or what? Wow! Just horrendous. Mills for 2 and 7 and on third and 1. He threw it away. Penalty on Kenyon Green declined. At times, the Texans look like they're playing first preseason game. @gallerysports

The Houston Texans take on the Chicago Bears at 12:00 p.m. Central Time from Soldier Field.
The Texans are looking for their first full win of the 2022 campaign. The Bears are looking for a win to put them over .500 and continue their validation and positivity surrounding the hiring of former Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as coach.
The Texans’ passing game will be a key factor as offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton told reporters on Sept. 22.
“That’s the job of the quarterback, to make the appropriate throw in all situations,†said Hamilton. “We’ll do that. We’ll help our receivers and put them in the positions to make plays. When the layups present themselves, we’re going to make the layups, and we have to do a better job at that.â€

Boos are starting to ring down from the Bears crowd after Fields throws a screen to Trestan Ebner that goes high and to his right.
#Bears FS Eddie Jackson just came out of medical tent and he's carrying his own helmet - so that is a positive sign.
Fields completes his first pass down field since throwing the interception. A 24 yard throw to Cole Kmet.
Bears defense stepped up when it needed to — a Justin Jones sack, and a Nicholas Morrow TFL reading the Texans' TE screen. Bears ball at their own 8. This offense can go 92 yards no problem, right?
#Bears WR Byron Pringle headed to the locker room.
#Bears CB Jaylon Johnson, questionable with a quad, just came out for pregame warmups. We will see how it goes for him.
Bears backup QB Trevor Siemian is getting loose, taking snaps from Sam Mustipher.
#Bears OC Luke Getsy has called run plays on third-and-17, third-and-10 and third-and-6
Handful of nice plays for CB Kindle Vildor already today.
Lucas Patrick in at RG for this series. So, it's the same 2 series/2 series rotation.
The Chicago Bears have found their formula for scoring touchdowns against the Houston Texans. Mix in a heavy dose of Khalil Herbert with a dash of Equanimeous St. Brown and the result will be six points in the endzone.
On the first play of the second half for the Bears, Herbert took the handoff for 52 yards and set the Bears up deep in Texans territory. St. Brown then caught a pass that went for 20 yards to put the offense in the redzone, where Herbert did the rest for his second score of the day.
Have a day, @JuiceHerbert
Jet sweep to Equanimeous St. Brown for 41 yards. #Texans sort of just stood and watched him.
Teven Jenkins now in at right guard for the Bears.
Joe Thomas the starting strong-side LB in base defense
#Bears have one healthy inactive today: rookie OL Ja'Tyre Carter. Rest of inactives: CB Jaylon Johnson (hip), TE Ryan Griffin (Achilles), DB Dane Cruikshank (hamstring), WR Velus Jones (hamstring) & LB Matt Adams (hamstring).
Lucas Patrick is warming up at right guard. Sam Mustipher remains at center. Jaylon Jones is warming up at outside corner with Kyler Gordon in the slot.

He had 20 in the first two games this season. His backup, longtime special teamer Matt Adams, was ruled out Friday because of a hamstring injury, leaving undrafted rookies Jack Sanborn and Sterling Weatherford as the next options. The team also called up journeyman Joe Thomas from their practice squad. At cornerback, Johnson is by far the Bears’ best and most established player. The team projects rookie Kyler Gordon to become a star, but he’ll be playing just his third career game. Kindle Vildor is the other starter on the outside.
The Chicago Bears lost starting running back David Montgomery to an ankle/knee injury during the first quarter of their Week 3 game against the Houston Texans.
Montgomery was rolled up during a play in the first quarter, where he walked off the field under his own power. But he was limping, and he was later escorted to the locker room and ruled doubtful to return.
But it sounds like there’s good news on the Montgomery front.
Head coach Matt Eberflus said the prognosis on Montgomery’s “lower leg†injury is “good.†He’s officially “day-to-day,†which is great news for one of the most important players on offense and considering he’s in a contract year
The rare Bears blitz! Alan Williams sends the pressure with the linebackers on third down, force a Texans three-and-out.
That means rookie S Elijah Hicks will be in uniform for his debut today. Was inactive first two weeks.
Undrafted rookie Jaylon Jones takes the field with the Bears now in nickel defense.
