The Houston Texans have been horrendous on the road with rookie quarterback Davis Mills under center.

The Texans have averaged 8.5 points per game on the road. Houston has fared a little better at 15.5 points per game at NRG Stadium with Mills.

Mills’ signature game thus far has been Week 5 versus the New England Patriots when he surpassed the 300-yard passing mark, tossed three touchdowns, and didn’t throw an interception. The Texans just seem to do better at NRG Stadium as opposed to on the road

Houston Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins caught defensive coordinator Lovie Smith’s attention after the Week 7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The former Dallas Cowboys 2016 third-round pick generated a tackle, tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit among his 35 defensive snaps. He had a sack wiped away when he was dinged for going helmet-to-helmet with the diminutive Cardinals quarterback, Kyler Murray.

“Maliek Collins has played well throughout,” Smith said. “He’s been disruptive, and a lot of times our three-technique is the one that garners a little bit of double coverage, double protection and stuff that offenses do. He plays hard every down, big part of what we’re doing. I’m pleased with how he’s done, and he’s a guy that can take another step.â€

The Houston Texans weren’t about to trade Mark Ingram.

The Pro Bowl running back was a locker room leader, and the club needed as many positive influences as they battling through a 1-6 record.

There is still talent on the Texans’ roster, even if coach David Culley and his staff may be having trouble manifesting it on the football field. NFL teams see it and are making calls to the Texans ahead of the Nov. 2 trade deadline.

The Houston Texans are being dragged behind a six-game losing streak and host the 6-1 Los Angeles Rams Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at NRG Stadium.

One would think that the Texans lacked energy going up against the Rams, what with the front office also parting out contributing pieces to the roster ahead of the trade deadline. It would be understandable if that were the case.

According to defensive tackle Ross Blacklock, the Texans actually are upbeat.
