Game News

The Arizona Cardinals should have their starting running back dressed and on the field when they take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday afternoon. Chase Edmonds is expected to play, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Edmonds is officially questionable for the game on the team’s final injury report with a shoulder injury.
Edmonds sustained the injury two weeks ago at the end of his 54-yard run against the Los Angeles Rams.
He played last week in the Cardinals’ 17-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers and rushed six times for 15 yards and caught three passes for 19 more

James Conner is the perfect back when the Cardinals are playing with the lead in fourth qts.

"No excuses. No bulls∗∗∗. We just find a way to win." My @nflnetwork postgame interview with J.J. Watt after the #Cardinals — without their head coach and other star pass rusher — dismantled Cleveland to improve to 6-0. pic.twitter.com/6TYsEYeDCv

Cardinals' HC Kliff Kingsbury, who has had multiple positive COVID tests on back-to-back days and will miss today's game vs. the Browns, will need two negative COVID tests 24 hours apart, meaning the earliest he now could return to work is Tuesday. But Kingsburgy "feels great".

#Cardinals improve to 6-0 with a win over the Browns in Cleveland. They've scored 30+ points in 5 out of their 6 games. They did it today without... *HC Kliff Kingsbury *LB Chandler Jones *C Rodney Hudson *DE Zach Allen *TE Maxx Williams *DT Corey Peters *QB Coach Cam Turner

We have placed DL Corey Peters on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and elevated DL Jonathan Ledbetter to the active roster from the practice squad.

Jordan Hicks is also a problem if you were wondering.

(oh and Zach Ertz will be in the mix moving forward)

What. A. Play. Isaiah Simmons. So fast. Blows up a reverse that was open beyond IS.

Mayfield air-mails his receiver and it goes right to CB Robert Alford=, thank you very much. Returned all the way to the CLE 4, pending a review if he stepped out. This is so one-sided. Just like everyone thought.

Mayfield walks off, goes right into the medical tent. It was a strip-sack, and Devon Kennard gets the turnover.

Vance Joseph credited Kenny Bell, the assistant to the head coach, for having the idea to travel DL Jonathan Ledbetter in case more positive cases showed up in the wake of Zach Allen's. Turns out he was needed.

Some good news for @AZCardinals: All questionable players are active against #Browns, including CBs Byron Murphy, Marco Wilson: bit.ly/3AO40cs

Kyler was checking into a new play and center Max Garcia snapped when he wasn't looking. Loses 14.

#AZCardinals DL Rashard Lawrence (calf) and is out. Another blow to the defensive line.

Holy smokes. Baker Mayfield launches a Hail Mary and Donovan Peoples-Jones comes down with it! pic.twitter.com/EucELAu2lq

Peoples-Jones caught four of five targets for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-14 loss to the Cardinals.
While Odell Beckham led the Browns in catches and targets, it was Peoples-Jones who was the team's big-play threat as he accounted for all of Cleveland's scoring with an 11-yard TD grab with about five minutes left in the first half, before he was on the end of a 57-yard Baker Mayfield hail mary just before halftime. Peoples-Jones had just four catches through the first four games of the season, but he's suddenly erupted for a 9-171-2 line on 11 targets over the last two contests. Given his modest target volume, the second-year receiver could have a tough time being productive again in Week 7 against the Broncos. However, with both Nick Chubb (calf) and Kareem Hunt (calf/wrist/knee) banged up, the Browns could have to rely on their passing game much more than usual in the short term.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Hunt (wrist/knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, should be ready to handle a larger role than normal with top back Nick Chubb (calf) out, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. "I don't want to kill Kareem," Stefanski said, noting that he has a number of snaps and touches in mind for Hunt.
Since the Browns will hav a quick turnaround for Week 7 with the Broncos traveling to Cleveland for a Thursday night game, Stefanski cautioned that Hunt won't be overworked in Sunday's contest. That being said, the absence of Chubb -- who was averaging 19 touches per game -- should pave the way for Hunt to take on his biggest workload to date, assuming the contest is reasonably competitive throughout. Behind Hunt, rookie Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson are expected to get touches, too, according to Pelissero, but neither player is expected to see as sizable of a snap or touch count that Hunt typically enjoys as the No. 2 option behind Chubb. Fantasy managers will still want to confirm that Hunt avoids the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, though that seems like a foregone conclusion at this point.

Some other stuff: I did a long piece on why (and how) the Browns need to make Odell Beckham Jr. more a force multiplier, and less a decoy. touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/odell-be… And an All-22 look at the Bills' utterly dominant defense. touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/bills-de…

Chubb won't go on IR. Stefanski isn't even ruling out Chubb for Thursday night against the #Broncos, though short week is tough. Another reason they'll be careful to not run Hunt into the ground today. They trust D'Ernest Johnson, and Demetric Felton will get touches too.

Both Browns' OTs, Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin, are inactive today vs. Arizona.

The #Browns have a long list of players listed as questionable, but tackles Jedrick Wills Jr. (ankle) and Jack Conklin (knee) are the only starters not expected to play today against the #Cardinals. Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney and Denzel Ward all should be good to go.

It's a week of adjustments for the unbeaten #Cardinals amidst COVID challenges: an assistant WR coach calling in plays, Kliff Kingsbury Zooming into the team meeting and advice for Kingsbury from #Browns coach Kevin Stefanski: "Turn your phone off." @nflnetwork @NFLGameDay pic.twitter.com/GAgrzVtJzi

ICYMI: #Browns WR Jarvis Landry won't play today vs. #AZCardinals. He is expected to return from sprained MCL either Thursday vs. #Broncos or Oct. 31 vs. #Steelers beaconjournal.com/story/sports/p…

Sack #3 this season for Jadeveon Clowney, who entered the week 2nd among edge rushers in pass rush win rate.

#Browns LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah went to locker room a bit ago. No announcement yet from team.

Hop draws a second DPI on this drive on Denzel Ward, negating an interception. Not sure that throw was there.

Joel Bitonio holding his arms out after the play like that was definitely supposed to be a reverse. And there was NOBODY on the other side of the field.

#Browns Greg Newsome II in on defense for 1st time this series.

Browns DC Joe Woods bringing pressure with the blitz, five or more. Give the Oline credit to picking it up on the Hopkins catch.
