Sam Darnold has won as many games in his first three starts with the @Panthers as he did in his last 13 with the Jets.
#Panthers CB Jaycee Horn is believed to have broken his foot earlier tonight, source said. A serious injury, but not necessarily season-ending.
Darnold won't throw to Robby Anderson because he reminds him of the Jets
Joe Buck just mentioned that Shaq Thompson played minor league baseball and "it didn't go so well" so I'd like to be a bit more specific: He went 0-for-39 with 37 strikeouts pic.twitter.com/G5fosoLPN2

Jayce Horn "broke some bones in his foot" per Matt Rhule. Sounds like it could be a couple of bones and Rhule doesn't know the timeline right now

McCaffrey officially out with hamstring injury. Panthers should give Royce Freeman a couple of carries and see what he has.

Panthers def. back A.J. Bouye expected to be inactive tonight, Team wants to give him one more week for his soft tissue injury to heal.
Tell me that wasn't Alex Erickson with the 2 yard punt return.
The Panthers are bringing up CB Rashaan Melvin and C Sam Tecklenburg from the practice squad for tonight's game (standard elevation). That's the second for each of them, and that's the limit for the season. To play again, they'd have to be signed to the 53.
Zane Gonzalez had no touchbacks last week. First kickoff tonight goes into the end zone. Kicking indoors.
Some amazing finds while cleaning out the family storage unit this week. Sidenote: The 53 looks much, much cooler on Brian Burns. pic.twitter.com/y4VFCh4iQj
McCaffrey with a nice gain on first down, with FB Giovanni Ricci clearing a nice hole. If Ricci learns to play the position, he could be a useful part.

Cause the defense really needed someone else to provide pressure ….. Frankie Luvu has been quite noticeable tonight. Season totals for defense are currently 14 sacks and 28 QB hits in 11+ quarters.
Moore caught eight of 12 targets for 126 yards in Thursday night's 24-9 win over the Texans.
Moore was targeted frequently during the first half, helping the Panthers gain first downs with a variety of catches between the numbers. In fact, the wideout hit 100 yards on his six catches by halftime. Although he understandably couldn't maintain that pace in the second half -- and was briefly seen being examined by trainers on the sideline before re-entering the game -- Moore overall helped Carolina's offense compensate for Christian McCaffrey's (hamstring) second-quarter exit. Quietly coming off consecutive seasons with 1,200 scrimmage yards, Moore has put up at least 75 yards in each of his three games to begin the current campaign, continuing his stock's ascent among receivers league-wide.

In addition to the big injuries, Matt Rhule said RG John Miller had a banged up shoulder, but wouldn't come out of the game. Miller's a tough guy, and they're going to need all hands on deck on that line.
Strip-sack on Darnold, but Matt Paradis recovers. Panthers dodge a big bullet.
Tough for Horn and a big loss for the Panthers. Fortunately, they figure to get AJ Bouye back next week. He'll join Donte Jackson and Rashaan Melvin as the top-3 CBs for now. twitter.com/JFowlerESPN/st…

Regardless of the events that led to the current situation or who is to blame for any or all of it, Texans fans should be livid over the fact that the team is paying Deshaun Watson franchise QB money and he's not playing for the team.
Sure, social media is a toxic pit that is a waste of time at best and a day-ruining nightmare at worst, but then you get takes like this on Davis Mills' neck and you remember the whole thing is worth it. twitter.com/HenryMikulski/…
The #Texans officially elevated K Joey Slye, QB Jeff Driskel, and WR Chris Moore to the active roster. Driskel will be the backup QB tonight.

Anthony Miller is a name to watch tonight. He's making his Houston debut and the Texans are missing Nico Collins and Danny Amendola.
The engine for the Carolina Panthers’ offense is running back Christian McCaffrey. Everyone knows that.
Not everyone can stop him, and that is a reality Houston Texans defensive coordinator Lovie Smith has had to confront on a short week as his team gets ready to play the Panthers Thursday night for Week 3 at NRG Stadium.
“He’s tough duty,†said Smith. “As a receiver when he’s catching the football, whether out of the back field, splitting him out as a wide receiver, they do a great job of putting him in different spots getting the ball to him. But he’s a running back and of course he can make you miss in the open field, run in between the tackles.â€
Andre Roberts fumbled another punt but Texans recovered it. That's two in two games. He's too experienced to have this problem. He was signed to help the offense with field position, not hinder it.
The major story heading into Thursday night’s primetime showcase was how stingy the Carolina Panthers defense has been. And, to their credit, they kept on with that stinginess, until quarterback Davis Mills woke up.
With a minute and 37 seconds remaining in the first half, Mills drove the Houston Texans into the end zone on a seven-play, 64-yard romp. The scoring drive, which took just a minute and 12 seconds, ended with a sharp 1-yard completion to wideout Anthony Miller.

Houston Texans defensive end Whitney Mercilus was able to get his 56th career sack by dropping Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold Thursday night at NRG Stadium.
Mercilus knew that getting a sack of the former New York Jets 2018 first-round pick would be difficult given how successful Carolina’s offensive line has been through the first two games at keeping Darnold upright
Cameron Johnston must not be used to punting in opponent's territory. (Unless it's overtime, of course...)
I think I hear some chants, "We want Jeff! We want Jeff!" Must be Jeff Driskel's neighbors. Texans have 44 yards.
The Houston Texans take on the Carolian Panthers at NRG Stadium on Thursday Night Football. Carolina got the ball first and had a chance to put points on the board. Here is the first quarter recap.
Panthers 1st drive (3 plays, 7 yards, 0:58): The Texans actually held Carolina to a three-and-out after the Panthers initially gained seven yards on first down. CB Vernon Hargreaves had a nice pass breakup on third-and-3.
Texans 1st drive (3 plays, 4 yards, 1:26): WR Brandin Cooks took a reverse for five yards. However, RB Mark Ingram was dropped for a 1-yard loss on a second-down screen. Defensive end Brian Burns batted QB Davis Mills’ quick out for Cooks on third down

Reserve cornerback Jimmy Moreland active for first time since being claimed off waivers from Washington Football Team with Terrance Mitchell out with a concussion
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are expected to elevate receiver Chris Moore from the practice squad ahead of Thursday’s match against the 2-0 Carolina Panthers.
Moore, 28, will be added to the Texans’ active roster following the injuries to wide receivers Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (hamstring). In addition to Moore, the Texans are anticipating the debut of Anthony Miller, who missed the previous two games to continue recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained during preseason.
Moore began his career in Baltimore after the Raven selected the Cincinnati alumni in the 4th round (No. 107th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Prior to joining the Texans, Moore had spent his entire career with the Ravens, where he recorded 511 yards on 47 catches and four touchdowns
Rhule wanted a PI flag on Vernon Hargreaves on DJ Moore on that one. Didn't get it. Panthers go three-and-out. And then a short punt by Charlton.
Texans' first-team defensive line in warmups: Jacob Martin, Jon Greenard, Maliek Collins and Roy Lopez @SportsTalk790 @iHeartRadio
This slipped my mind earlier when the Texans' inactives list came out, but Houston has all 5 of its RBs active for tonight. Scottie Phillips was inactive for the first two games.
Down 7-0 with 1:37 left in the first half, Texans have the ball at their 36. If I'm OC Tim Kelly, I'm going deep on three plays in a row. Why not? Nothing else is working.
