Mitchell is expected to head the 49ers backfield Sunday in Philadelphia, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Mitchell stepped in for an injured Raheem Mostert in Week 1 at Detroit and ripped off 104 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries. With Mostert on the shelf for the rest of the season following knee surgery, Mitchell has assumed the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, but he'll have to contend with JaMycal Hasty and third-round rookie Trey Sermon, the latter of whom was inactive last Sunday. Mitchell himself was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, so his sudden rise seemingly has him on pace to be featured in coach Kyle Shanahan's scheme.
Micah Parsons played defensive end for the first time since high school…
He had 8 pressures (most by a rookie since Nick Bosa in 2019) 🤯 pic.twitter.com/ZIssNNoDFB
Trey Lance szn can't get here soon enough.
Jimmy Garoppolo's average depth of target was 3.97 yards today 🤢
Air yard leaders:
48 — Deebo Samuel
36 — Trent Sherfield
26 — Brandon Aiyuk
-6 — George Kittle 🤮
It wasn't pretty, but the #49ers pulled off the 17-11 victory over the Eagles with notable performances from Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa.
Takeaways from #SFvsPHI 👇
The #49ers are optimistic that DE Arik Armstead (abductor) and DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) will play today vs. #Eagles, per me and @MikeGarafolo, provided warmups go well.
Obvious that recording such a physical victory early in the season is very important to the 49ers.
Fred Warner: "The hard ones are the ones that mean the most."
To those who thought that one Trey Lance TD pass in Week 1 of the preseason somehow changed the way Shanahan thought about the QB position: That was what a real NFL game looked like
49ers' RB attrition is wild. Wilson, Mostert, Sermon, Mitchell, Hasty all now hurt. TBD on the Week 3 status of the final three.
What does SF do this week? Depends on health developments, but seems there's a good chance they start with a Kerryon Johnson practice squad call-up
CB Emmanuel Moseley in pads and helmet doing full-field sprints. He's unlikely to play today (doubtful, knee) but next week vs. GB seems like safe bet.
#49ers open a game w/ 3 straight 3 and outs for the 1st time in the Kyle Shanahan era. They last did it 11/13/16 vs Cardinals w/ Chip Kelly as coach. Haven't done 4 straight since 9/27/09
Alex Mack: "They're just a very talented front… They showed a different front than they had previously, and it took a while."
Feeling-out process confirmed
First day for full stadium since January '20 — the only postseason game of C. Wentz's career. Much has changed since.
First 49ers visit since October '17, before they traded for J. Garoppolo. Much has changed since.

#Eagles OL Brandon Brooks is believed to have suffered an injury to his pec, source said. He'll have an MRI to determine how serious the ailment is: Is it a full tear or just a strain?
Derek Barnett has now been flagged for 8 personal fouls in his career (6 unnecessary roughness penalties, 2 roughing the QBs).
His penalty today was difference between 3rd and 15 from SF27 and 1st and 10 from SF42. A costly error that lived up to description: Unnecessary.
Sanders rushed 13 times for 55 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the 49ers. He added one reception for four yards.
Sanders was fairly efficient with his opportunities on the ground, but both game script and Jalen Hurts' involvement in the rushing attack limited his volume. Perhaps more concerning was Sanders' complete lack of involvement as a receiver, with Kenneth Gainwell cutting into his workload in that area. The result was a fairly ineffective performance, though Sanders could bounce back in what should be a better matchup Week 3 against Dallas. Through two games, Sanders is averaging 16.5 touches and 86 total yards per game.
Fletcher Cox was as emotional as I've seen him postgame: "It was a pretty emotional moment for me to see BG limp off the field... Me and Brandon have played so much ball together and to see him walk off the field was pretty rough for me."
Shades of Philly Special on 4th and goal but San Fran sniffs it out. Quez Watkins' 91-yard reception leads to zero points for Eagles.
Watkins reached 21.62 MPH, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That's the fastest speed by a ball carrier this season.
Garoppolo and the 49ers had hardly no film on the Philly defense entering this game. Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon had never called plays prior to this season.
The 49ers weathered the storm, gradually built up a reserve of plays to study, adjusted and then hit the big one
