Game News
Carson Wentz vs the #Cardinals: 🔹 18-28 🔹 225 yards 🔹 2 TDs 🔹 113.0 passer rating 🔹 W pic.twitter.com/5caDHAh3Xj
The #Colts beat the #Cardinals in Arizona despite not having Darius Leonard, Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly and Mark Glowinski, plus Eric Fisher and Jack Doyle getting hurt in game. Arizona has lost three in a row.
And now, hours before their game against the Cardinals, the Colts have placed LB Darius Leonard, S Khari Willis and WR Zach Pascal on the Reserve/Covid19 list. They're out tonight.
One of the game balls the Colts gave out tonight: GM Chris Ballard. "When you win a game like this, you thank the man that put the roster together," said Frank Reich.
Jim Irsay: "This (win) makes you think … what can't we do?"
Frank Reich and Matt Eberflus had themselves a night.
Wentz delivers a gift to T.Y. Hilton for SIX! #ForTheShoe 📺: #INDvsAZ on @NFLNetwork 📱: bit.ly/3H8gKOD pic.twitter.com/6UH2YGVGxX
Man, George Odum has had a really, really good game. On a night where your depth has been tested like no other, he might top the list of guys who have risen to the occasion.
When it rains, it pours: Chris Reed now hurt. Will Fries is in. If someone else goes down on the line, they might have to give Anthony Castonzo a call at halftime.
It'll be four backup O linemen the rest of the way for the Colts. Eric Fisher ruled out with a knee injury. Whoo boy.
Touchdown to T.Y. Hilton. Play was designed to go to Nyheim Hines, it looked like, Wentz didn't like what he saw and found Hilton wide open crossing.
Michael Pittman has to clean up some of this messiness in his game. He's playing great this year but too many penalties.
I will say this for Ashton Dulin: He comes through practically every time he's asked. I want to see more.
Feel like the Colts will need a huge play from DeForest Buckner or Kenny Moore to win this one.
Losing Jack Doyle really changed the way we called the game. "He's one of our top blockers." Reich pic.twitter.com/nQRLe2Krrt
Michael Strachan the only notable inactive tonight for the Colts, who'll have Keke Coutee up instead of him at WR.
With Eric Fisher limping to the Colts' locker room, the team now has one starting offensive lineman left in the game: Braden Smith.
Danny Pinter should at least get credit for five rushing yards there.
That's 7 points left on the field by the Cardinals placekicking unit. Loved the 3rd down wrinkle of E.J. Speed showing blitz, reverting back to zone.
Very sound rush there on 3rd down by Indy. Dayo Odeyingbo with the stunt leading to a throwaway. Important 3-and-out.
What a time for Dezmon Patmon's first career TD. Wentz was outstanding on that drive. #Colts
Seahawks activated DE Kerry Hyder off COVID list today but placed CB Bless Austin on it. Seattle also activated 5 players off practice squad: DT Myles Adams, S Josh Jones, TE Tyler Mabry, LB Edmond Robinson and WR Cody Thompson.
#Colts literally will run out of offensive linemen soon. I believe rookie Will Fries and practice squad call-up Carter O'Donnell are all that's left on the bench.
Kwity Paye's speed has been impressive chasing Murray a couple of times.
Keep in mind, unvaxxed players miss at least 10 days. So that's 2 games. Including Quenton Nelson. twitter.com/mchappell51/st…
I think the Colts are down to practice squad call-up Carter O'Donnell as the last offensive lineman left on the bench.
The Indianapolis Colts have suffered another loss on the offensive line as they get ready to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas Day. Already without starting center Ryan Kelly and starting right guard Mark Glowinski, they will now be without All-Pro starting left guard Quenton Nelson.
Nelson was placed on the COVID list Friday. Earlier in the week, he missed some practice with an illness.
Kelly is out for personal reasons, as his family mourns the death of their unborn daughter. Glowinski was added to the COVID list Thursday. With Nelson now out as well, it means the Colts will play without their entire starting interior offensive line
We are almost to point where Colts need to know who on their defense played OL in high school I was looking thru DeForest Buckner's maxpreps profile to see ... This is the sort of thing that cannot happen w/o something extraordinary like the sudden covid designations
Honestly, that's a remarkable play by T.J. Carrie. Trick punt return by the Cardinals. Punt returner acts like the ball is headed in the opposite direction, they run a guy who looks like he's blocking back to catch the punt.
The Arizona Cardinals will have a full running back room tonight when they take on the Indianapolis Colts. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back James Conner is expected to play.
Conner has a heel injury and did not practice at all this week. He is officially questionable for the game.
Conner, who was named to the Pro Bowl this week for the second time in his career, told reporters Thursday that he hoped to play and it would be a matter of pain management.
Conner leads the Cardinals with 700 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns
For the first time since Kyler Murray came back from his injury he's back out getting very early work. pic.twitter.com/PH64GGjSt7
Zach Ertz almost had one of the best catches of the year 😳 pic.twitter.com/TJ2S6hbpIv
I personally see no issue with the Cardinals kicking the field goal on 3rd down. — someone who desperately needed those 3 fantasy points from Matt Prater
Trick or Treat on Christmas! pic.twitter.com/DRoQLAA5JS
— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) December 26, 2021
Fake punts are fairly rare. What is even rarer is a fake punt return, which the Arizona Cardinals executed perfectly.
The Indianapolis Colts were forced to punt on their first possession of the second half in Week 16 and Cardinals returner Christian Kirk drifted far to his left, making it look like he was going to field the punt there.
The punt went to the other side of the field. Cornerback Byron Murphy, who was part of the coverage team, fielded the punt and returned it 48 yards to the Colts 42
Chase Edmonds a 2-yard TD run. That was a nice answer for the Cardinals. And *much* needed.
Antoine Wesley ran to the sideline with the football and handed it to Kingsbury. Wesley also played for Kingsbury at Texas Tech.
As just reported in game, Colt McCoy is the holder tonight with punter Andy Lee out. McCoy has been in the league 12 years. Tonight is his first time holding in an NFL game. @nflnetwork
CB Marco Wilson down after a play in which they call him for DPI. Have no idea what he did to get a flag. Neither does the crowd.
Vance Joseph turning Budda Baker loose and it's working. Cardinals are a score away from really putting a large portion of this game on Wentz and a banged-up o-line holding up.
Chandler Jones takes a dumb roughing the passer penalty. Have I mentioned they are killing themselves?
The Arizona Cardinals will be without Pro Bowl running back James Conner and rookie receiver Rondale Moore as they try to clinch a playoff spot on Saturday by beating the Indianapolis Colts.
Cardinals safety Jalen Thompson down after the play. They are looking at his right shin/lower leg.
Eric Fisher should donate to Byron Murphy's charity of choice.
The Indianapolis Colts are flying high as they head into the final three weeks of the season clinging to the top wild card seed. With a division title still in sight, the margin for error is very slim, and this week will be another test of how good this team truly is.
The Arizona Cardinals have many playmakers on both sides of the ball that can turn the tides of a game. While they have struggled as of late, make no mistake, this team can make a super bowl run come January.
Thankfully, the Indy’s secondary will not have to deal with DeAndre Hopkins who will miss the rest of the regular season with a knee injury
We have made the following roster moves: • Signed WR Greg Dortch to the active roster from the practice squad • Elevated DL Josh Mauro and CB Kevin Peterson to the active roster from the practice squad as COVID-19 replacements pic.twitter.com/6wC7xsiNzX
Safety against the Cardinals. Bad snap from Max Garcia into the end zone. Cardinals can't get out of their own way. 9-6 Colts lead.
Back to back plays, Corey Peters and Leki Fotu jump offsides. Trying to get in there for Taylor runs but free yards kill.
Cards safety/special teamer Charles Washington, who was limping after an earlier special teams play, is down again. Limps off the field. Again, Washington missed much of the season with a bad hamstring.
So the Colts will be minus eight starters, four on offense (including three offensive linemen) and four on defense (including three in the secondary); while the Cardinals will not have Rodney Hudson, Jordan Phillips or Andy Lee #INDvsAZ
