Game News
Hey @nyjets fans, we want your vote for Pregame Central Presented by @UberEats. It's a battle of former @BYUfootball Cougars today. Jets QB @ZachWilson will have more total TDs than @Saints QB Taysom Hill.
Carl Granderson coming in hot for the sack 💪 His 3rd of the season #saints | 📺: CBS pic.twitter.com/YBv0M83gh9
Just looking at the various jerseys of the Saints fans left in an almost empty stadium today: Mark Ingram, Cam Jordan, Michael Thomas, Drew Brees ..... Darren Sharper???
UPDATED | The fan who stormed the field and was tackled into Saints LB Demario Davis was a 16-year-old New Jersey native, I'm told. nola.com/sports/saints/…
Excellent job by Saints safety Marcus Williams on the fourth-down pass breakup. And now New Orleans will take over at midfield with a chance to take a three-score lead.
Wondering if Ethan Wolf being up at tight end this week means Juwan Johnson will play wide receiver today.
Nick Vannett led the Saints in targets in a game they won 30-9.
Ian Book, Pete Werner, Ken Crawley, Kaden Ellis, Will Clapp, Ryan Ramczyk and Lil'Jordan Humphrey are inactive
Saints LB Kwon Alexander makes up for the defensive holding penalty with a sack three plays later, forcing the Jets to punt after all.
Cesar Ruiz has a really hard time with his blocks as a pulling guard on those QB power plays
ðŸˆWEEK 14: #Saints at #Jets: Saints are favored by 5.5 pts, per Caesars. Over-under is 43.5. Saints have a 71% chance to win, per ESPN FPI. Saints have their first 5-game losing streak within a season under Sean Payton. Prediction: Saints 31, Jets 17
Easop Winston on the return. Justin Hardee with the tackle.
Sheldon Rankins and David Onyemata swapped jerseys postgame. Here's some pics from the Saints' IG with that and Justin Hardee catching up, too. pic.twitter.com/YRwOm64cky
... what was Calvin Throckmorton doing there? Saying hi to AK in the middle of the play?
Blake Gillikin brought his sand wedge to East Rutherford
The New Orleans Saints are getting a couple of big-name players back from injuries this week, including running back Alvin Kamara, left tackle Terron Armstead, defensive end Marcus Davenport, and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson — but they’re also going to be without several key starters like right tackle Ryan Ramczyk, as well as COVID-19 absentees in defensive end Cameron Jordan, running back Mark Ingram II, and wide receiver Ty Montgomery.
Here are the full list of inactive players from the 53-man roster from both New Orleans and the New York Jets
"I'm a rookie. I just got here." - Zach Wilson on how he keeps his spirits up #Jets
Zach went through his reads and checked it down. Big positive. Ty Johnson dropped it. Not a positive.
Denzel Mims … AGAIN. He's called for an illegal formation! Are you kidding me?! The #Jets are now back to the 39 yard line. That is pathetic. Pathetic. You wonder why he's not playing? There it is.
Oh come on, Zach. That's just bad. Hit him. He's wide open in the flat! That after a bad pass to Jamison Crowder, well over his head, open near the sideline.
Austin Walter not getting a chunk of those third down reps because the #Jets aren't overly confident in his pass blocking. That's a key part to this, too. Still: Johnson should be out. How about La'Mical Perine? Remember him?
Good news: Quinnen Williams is back on the sideline and has his helmet on. #Jets
#Saints at #Jets: Braxton Berrios is the only player in the NFL with a 40+ reception, 25+ kickoff return and 10+ punt return in the same game — first Jet to do OT since 2000 and one of only 5 NFL players in the last 5 years.
He's not on the hot seat. He's not going anywhere. The ‘21 draft has potential. But man, Douglas' 2020 picks look just awful. Bryce Hall about the only player — and he's solid. Becton (1), Mims (2), Davis (3), Zuniga (3), Perine (4), Morgan (4), Clark (4), Hall (5), Mann (6)
Quincy Williams, man. What a hit. The #Jets really found something there on the waiver wire.
Elijah Riley, Javelin Guidry, Nathan Shepherd, Tim Ward, Ashtyn Davis, Shaq Lawson. Those players played meaningful snaps that drive. That's a preseason roster. It's a victory to hold NOS in red zone.
Vyncint Smith is checking in the game for Keelan Cole. Denzel Mims stays on the sideline. So, yes, he is benched.
DL Sheldon Rankins and OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif are up for #NOvsNYJ 📰 nyj.social/3EKntxk pic.twitter.com/nmbwTiKMEv
Week 14 offers the Jets a chance to develop more and possibly grab a win at the same time.
Though New York is extremely depleted with injuries, most recently losing Elijah Moore, the Saints are just as unhealthy. That doesn’t mean the Jets won’t have trouble against a team that started the season 5-2 before losing its last five games.
While New Orleans is missing key components, the Saints still have more talent than the Jets. New York will need a clean game to win, as well as some step-up performances. With that said, here are six bold predictions for Gang Green’s Week 14 matchup with New Orleans
The Jets enter their Week 14 a banged-up football team, but at least they will have two of their key pieces in the trenches when they take on the Saints.
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Sheldon Rankins are active after being listed as questionable during the week. Duvernay-Tardif missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but returned in a limited capacity on Friday and will assume his spot at right guard. Rankins returns after missing Week 13 with a knee injury. C.J. Mosley is also active after being listed as questionable with a knee injury
Lots of hugs from the Saints for former Saints DT Sheldon Rankins on the field after the game.
That's the best punt I've seen from Braden Mann in awhile. Hadn't looked the same since hurting his knee. Maybe finally getting fully healthy. #Jets
Oh no: Cowboys RG Zack Martin is down. Connor McGovern coming in.
The Jets had high hopes for La’Mical Perine when they used a fourth-round pick on the running back in 2020, but the Florida product has spent most of his sophomore season riding the bench.
Drafted with Adam Gase’s offense still in place, Perine never caught on with New York’s new coaching staff. Michael Carter, a 2021 fourth-rounder, quickly usurped Perine as Gang Green’s up-and-coming rusher, while more experienced players like Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson have been tasked with handling the rest of the carries. Even Austin Walter, a player with one rush before this season, has seen action over Perine when the Jets were in need of depth
Awful angle by 2020 draft pick Ashtyn Davis on that Hill touchdown. Horrible. #Jets
"He has to be better" - Robert Saleh on Denzel Mims, who was benched after back-to-back penalties. #Jets
Kyle Phillips sack. He planted Hill. 2nd & 24 now.
Week 14 was Denzel Mims’ time to shine. With Corey Davis and Elijah Moore out due to injury, the second-year wide receiver was poised to step into the increased role that has eluded him all season.
Instead, Mims sabotaged his best opportunity yet to show the Jets he fits in their offensive plans for the future.
Mims was targeted just once in New York’s 30-9 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He finished without a reception. His only contributions were negative ones, as he almost single-handedly pushed the Jets out of field goal range at the end of the first half with two senseless penalties
In uniform for the #49ers today: 13-WR River Cracraft 14-CB Saivion Smith 30-S Jarrod Wilson 35-RB Brian Hill
Morgan Moses might want to cover his eyes when he re-watches that sack. #Jets
