Game News
Jets' QB Zach Wilson limped off field and now being examined on the sidelines.
Ty Johnson almost picked it up on 3rd & forever. #Jets FG unit on.
#Jets RB Austin Walter talking about his late father, and mother. He scored his first touchdown today and said his dad had "the best seat in the house" pic.twitter.com/gyaeN4pWOK
That's sack No. 6 for Quinnen Williams this year. He had seven last year, which was his career-high. Needs one more the rest of the way to tie that. Two to break it. I think both happen.
Zach Wilson had Tevin Coleman wide open in the flat. Fires it well over his head & behind him. 3rd & 12.
"I tried to score! I really did!" - John Franklin-Myers on the INT #Jets
Zach Wilson little five-year completion to Jamison Crowder. Maybe that can jumpstart something.
Quincy Williams fell out of favor with the #Jaguars because he wasn't a scheme fit. Saleh felt, in this attack-first defense, he'd get back to playing some pretty good football. He is. Guy plays with so much passion & you can see it rubs off on his teammates.
Matt Ammendola missed another one. Kick is wide left. From 42. I think the Ammendola experiment has lasted long enough. On to the next one. He's not it.
Cowboys' expected starting offensive line Thursday against the Saints: LT: Tyron Smith LG: Connor McGovern C: Tyler Biadasz RG: Zack Martin RT: La'el Collins
What a throw from Wilson on the move. He had Ryan Griffin. Hit him in the hands. Griffin has to make that catch. Have said this before: The Jets are playing a man down any time they run a tight end on a pass route. Desperately need to address that position this offseason.
Excellent play call. Excellent. Well done Mike LaFleur. Moore gets it on end-around. First down #Jets.
LB C.J. Mosley and DL John Franklin-Myers are a go for #NYJvsHOU. 📰 nyj.social/3CYFgiD pic.twitter.com/aUYLmJF2m1
Ronald Blair just notched a sack for Saleh and the Jets. The former 49ers DE has fought through a lot to overcome an ACL tear and complications to reach this point
Zach Wilson will be without his favorite target in his return to the field, as Corey Davis is out with a groin injury against the Texans.
Robert Saleh was originally optimistic about Davis’ chances of suiting up in Week 12. However, the 26-year-old was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on Saturday and will miss his third game of the season. Davis’ absence leaves the Jets with just five healthy wide receivers with Denzel Mims still on the COVID-19 list and without their leading receiver and rusher after Michael Carter landed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain
Holy cow that was almost a house call for Braxton Berrios. Helluva tackle to stop that from happening.
The #Jets are not in the victory formation, but by Bryce Hall breaking up the pass on 4th & 2, the #Texans are unlikely to win because they'd get the ball back with very little time.
Kenny Yeboah gets a piece of the punt. But ball rolls too far. Jets take a knee to go to halftime down 3.
DL Sheldon Rankins (knee) is questionable to return #NYJvsHOU
Josh Johnson is in. #Texans: 14 #Jets: 11 I like the aggression
Mekhi Becton (injured) made the trip to Houston. A sign that he's getting close to practicing? #Jets pic.twitter.com/KntXLhufG1
That would be a 29-yard punt from Braden Mann.
Morgan Moses comes up limping. Looks like he's staying in.
Nothing has gone right for the Jets this season, but it is easy to understand why Robert Saleh is so excited about the young talent on this team.
Early returns on New York’s rookie class have been beyond encouraging. Alijah Vera-Tucker is already the Jets’ best offensive lineman, committing just four penalties and allowing only one sack in 673 snaps. Elijah Moore has quickly developed into one of the team’s most dangerous skill position players and just torched the Dolphins for eight catches, 141 yards and a touchdown. The same can be said about Michael Carter, who lead the Jets in scrimmage yards before landing on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Even Michael Carter II and Brandin Echols have delivered at times in the secondary
Houston Texans fans had to be pondering a certain question as their team battled the New York Jets in Week 12 at NRG Stadium: what would the team look like had they hired Robert Saleh?
The New York Jets hired the former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator on Jan. 14, nine days after the Texans hired Nick Caserio as general manager and another 15 days before Houston would introduce Culley as their fourth full-time coach in team history.
On the face, it is easy to say the Texans just waited too long; the Jets beat them to the punch. However, Houston fired Bill O’Brien on Oct. 5, 2020, after an 0-4 start. The Texans had a full 13 weeks of the regular season to evaluate the coaching landscape
The Jets are hours away from returning to action after their 24-17 loss to the Dolphins in Week 11.
New York travels to Houston to take on a Texans team that found a way to upset the AFC South-leading Titans on the road last weekend. Houston’s defense rose to the occasion in Tennessee and Tyrod Taylor carried the offense on his back, leading the Texans to their second win of the season.
Now Houston has to face Gang Green with Zach Wilson back in the starting lineup.

Dolphins new RB Phillip Lindsay said he's been working "day and night" to get acclimated. said the dejected look on his son's face when he left Houston inspired him to "run with" the next opportunity he got pic.twitter.com/bskLEZwreH
There's been a lot of talk this whole year surrounding Dolphins & Panthers upgrading at QB particularly with Deshaun Watson. Looking at them play today — it looks clear Carolina needs it more. Tua having a strong day & giving more evidence that when healthy he can be the GUY.
Texans vs. Jets first quarter recap
Texans 3rd drive (5 plays, 24 yards, 2:47) — [continued] QB Tyrod Taylor took another sack to open up the second quarter, but quickly found redemption on the ensuing play as he connected with rookie TE Brevin Jordan for a 13-yard touchdown. Texans, 7-3
Jets 3rd drive (3 plays, -2, 1:02) — LB Zach Cunningham dropped RB Tevin Coleman for a 2-yard loss, and that set the tone for the Jets’ three-and-out.
Texans 4th drive (6 plays, 67 yards, 2:47) — The Texans offense found a way to beat the Jets blitz, and Houston was able to deal. Taylor connected with WR Brandin Cooks for a 40-yard touchdown on a third-and-11. CB Bryce Hall committed pass interference, but Houston declined. Texans, 14-
The #Jets won't have to face Justin Reid, arguably Houston's best defender. It's for disciplinary reasons, per @aaronjreiss twitter.com/TexansPR/statu…
One of the better free agents the Houston Texans signed in 2021 has been cornerback Desmond King.
The former Los Angeles Chargers 2017 fifth-round pick initially played receiver Andre Roberts off the roster midway through the season with his punt return skills. King has averaged 10.5 yards per punt return in nine games.
King also competed for a starting job at cornerback, which resulted in the club releasing Vernon Hargreaves. The 26-year-old had the best game of the season in Week 11 when he got two interceptions, two pass breakups, and eight combined tackles in the 22-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, another one of his former teams
Normally when a team is leading 14-3 in the second quarter, the run game starts to shut downs. Instead, the New York Jets remained undeterred and kept feeding their stable of running backs.
The commitment to the run eventually broke the Houston Texans, and the Jets finished with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries. In the second half alone, the Jets tallied 101 yards on the ground, and mounted three drives of eight-plus plays that gained at least 40 yards and burned 4:30 off the game clock.
Defensive end Jonathan Greenard said the Jets were able to execute their running game in the second half
Matt Ammendola, say hello to Danny Amendola. The Jets K and Texans WR exchange pleasantries. No relation, obviously. #Jets #Texans pic.twitter.com/AR5tOq2Yk6
The Texans' two leading receivers so far are rookies. Nico Collins: 2 catches for 28 yards, plus drawing the PI that pulled Texans within the red zone on that last drive Brevin Jordan: 13-yard TD to cap the possession
Tytus Howard getting his shot at left tackle, a position he played briefly as a rookie in training camp and at Alabama State, with Laremy Tunsil on injured reserve after undergoing thumb surgery
Memo to Tim Kelly. You have the worst rushing team in the NFL. Stop trying to run. Burkhead for no gain! It's maddening for Texans fans.
The Houston Texans are determining different ways to utilize Jeff Driskel.
Driskel, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round in 2016 from Louisiana Tech, switched over to tight end. The switch crowds the tight end room for Houston, but also gives the Texans another athlete for special teams.
Special teams coordinator Frank Ross likes the possibility of using Driskel’s size at 6-4, 235 pounds to help out with his special teams units.
“Guy can jump, run,†Ross said. “You know, raw obviously. He has not been the hitter, he’s been at quarterback for so long. He’s trying to avoid as much as possible, now we are going to train him in our techniques. But again, every player here is a football player first and it’s nice to have a guy who’s willing to do anything whether it’s a positional change or whether he’s asked to do a role that would be a little bit foreign to him within a core player already.â€

Houston Texans rookie tight end Brevin Jordan caught his second career touchdown pass against the New York Jets in the second quarter of Week 12 at NRG Stadium.
Jordan caught a 13-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal, and Houston took its first lead of the game 7-3 over the Jets.
Offensive coordinator Tim Kelly told reporters on Nov. 24 that he likes the progress the fifth-round pick from Miami has shown
HOUSTON — Defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker is questionable to return to the Houston Texans’ Week 12 match against the 2-8 New York Jets at NRG Stadium. Walker sustained a hamstring injury during the second half after recording a sack on rookie quarterback Zach Wilson— according to Texans’ PR.
Walker, 27, has established himself as a vital piece to the Texans’ defensive line. In nine games played thus far this season, Walker has notched 21 total tackles (13 solo hits), to go along with 1.0 sack on the year

— Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) November 28, 2021
Houston Texans cornerback Tavierre Thomas got a key takeaway against the New York Jets in the first quarter of their Week 12 game at NRG Stadium.
Thomas intercepted a pass that deflected off running back Ty Johnston. The interception of quarterback Zach Wilson setup Houston in New York territory, and ultimately led to a Texans touchdown on the ensuing drive
