Game News
In Ravens' pre-game warmups, RB Devonta Freeman was running with the first team. WRs Sammy Watkins and Rashod Bateman were the wide receivers with first-team offense.
The Ravens did get two offensive starters back from injury today: RB Latavius Murray and OT Patrick Mekari. Murray had missed the last three games with an ankle injury, and Mekari had been sidelined the past two games with an ankle injury.
Tyler Huntley's postgame interview with @StaceyDales is too pure. 🥺 @Ravens | #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/FtPHzArktt
Ravens TE Mark Andrews on QB Tyler Huntley: "I know everyone around our facility, this organization knows how good that he is. But it's awesome for the world to see. It's a coming-out party for him, and I can't be more excited about it."
Ben Powers is the starting LG and Patrick Mekari the starting RT in pregame warmups. Devonta Freeman is RB1. Chris Westry and Marlon Humphrey are the outside CBs, with Tavon Young inside.
According to PFF, Marlon Humphrey played 37 coverage snaps and was targeted seven times. Humphrey allowed two receptions for 10 yards. Passer rating allowed was 39.6.
With that field goal, Greg Zuerlein became the third-fastest in NFL history to make 250 career field goals (144 games), trailing Justin Tucker (118) and Stephen Gostkowski (139).
Ravens WR Devin Duvernay down on the field working out. He's one of 11 players who are questionable for today's game for Ravens. Inactives due out in 40 minutes, but Ravens could really use Duvernay w/Marquise Brown out.
Tyler Huntley to start
Source: #Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, questionable with an illness, is out vs. the #Bears. Tyler Huntley slated to get the start. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: With and Lamar and Marquise Brown, the entire Ravens offense is losing steam. Huntley is 5-11 for 39 yards on the season. He's in the low-end QB2 territory with Rashod Bateman, Sammy Watkins and Mark Andrews as his top pass catchers.
Ravens defense makes a play with Tyus Bowser strip sacking Fields and Calais Campbell recovering. Ravens take over on own 34.
Ravens TE Nick Boyle also on the field going through his warmup. Expectation has been that he'll make his 2021 debut. He hasn't played in an NFL game since Nov. 15 last year. Had multiple surgeries on his knee and long rehab process to get back to this point.
Ravens already short on corners and Tavon Young limped off the field on that last play. He's now jogging on the sideline. Ar'Darius Washington now in slot.
A promising first drive for Ravens and Tyler Huntley ends around midfield with a failed screen to Patrick Ricard and Huntley getting caught behind the line trying to scramble
Rather than going for 4th-and-5 on Bears 39, Ravens try and get Bears to jump and then punt when they don't. Tylan Wallace can't stop Koch's punt from bouncing in EZ. That's a play that needs to be made.
And on 4th-and1-11, Dalton hits Goodwin for the TD. Goodwin badly beat Chris Westry. Huntley is going to need a TD drive to save the Ravens in final 1:41.
Jake Verity is still not yet all the way healthy, before you ask.
Huntley takes a 14-yard sack and the Ravens will start the 4th quarter facing a 3rd-and-29 from their own 18. Patrick Mekari also just limped off the field and Tyre Phillips has entered at RT
John Harbaugh for Coach of the Year and it might not even be close.
Ravens are so thin at cornerback that undrafted rookie safety Ar'Darius Washington was playing nickelback when Tavon Young limped off to the side. Young looks like he's ready to return in the next drive. Baltimore is without two injured CBs, Anthony Averett and Jimmy Smith.
Jaylon Ferguson gets a hand on that punt. Huge play for Ravens. That 28-yard punt puts Baltimore at the Chicago 45-yard line.
Initial tests done on Bears' QB Justin Fields today did not reveal any broken ribs, per source. Fields' ribs will undergo further tests Monday.
Darnell Mooney is speaking with the media. @Hyundai | #BALvsCHI twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
3.5 sacks now for Robert Quinn, a career high!
4th and 1 on their own 49 yd line and #Bears run a wildcat direct snap to David Montgomery. He's stopped short of the line to gain. #Ravens with one of the best kickers in the league need about 15 yards to be in FG range.
The Bears are 0-4 after the bye under Matt Nagy.
Andy Dalton never stops trying to give back to the Cincinnati community.
HOW DID HE CATCH THAT?!? 🤯 Tashaun Gipson Sr. comes away with it! #BALvsCHI | #DaBears pic.twitter.com/UDxv7WPBZI
The cap hits of the Bears' injured/inactive list today: Allen Robinson: $17.98 million Akiem Hicks: $12 million Nick Foles: $6.66 million (he's not hurt) Eddie Jackson: $5.09 million Those on injured reserve ... Khalil Mack: $14.646 million Danny Trevathan: $5.007 million
Well, at least, Roquan Smith came to play today. He has 11 tackles, including two for loss with 55 seconds left in the first half.
It's still scoreless in Chicago, where Bears kicker Cairo Santos misses wide left. Tyler Huntley gets his second drive of the game.
Andy Dalton 49-yard TD pass to Marquise Goodwin, who was wide open as the #Ravens blitzed the kitchen sink on 4th and 11.
Why do opposing coordinators throw the ball to anyone other than the person whom Kindle Vildor is "covering?"
Trevis Gipson was held twice on that play, no flag. Just another Sunday at the office for @NFLOfficiating.
Waiting for a change to the box score to credit Ledarius Mack with a half sack.
The Chicago Bears have been dealing with some brutal injuries this week after Khalil Mack was lost for the season and several starters are out heading into their game against the Baltimore Ravens.
While Chicago will be without Mack, Akiem Hicks, Allen Robinson and Eddie Jackson, Baltimore suffered a brutal blow of their own as quarterback Lamar Jackson won’t play against the Bears after battling an illness all week.
Jackson missed practice this week with a non-COVID-related illness, and he was downgraded to questionable with said illness on Saturday. Jackson made the trip to Chicago with the team and tried to be ready, but ultimately it was too much
"There you go, Pat," someone yells from the crowd as punter Pat O'Donnell lets one fly. No NFL city appreciates punts like this one.
“Andy Dalton finds Darnell Mooney for a touchdown†wasn’t a sentence we were expecting to write during this game.
After Justin Fields exited the game with a rib injury early in the third quarter, Dalton entered in relief and began dealing. He found Jimmy Graham for 23 yards, then fired a screen pass to Mooney, who broke free from tacklers and sprinted to the endzone for a 60-yard score.
It was the first touchdown of the day for the Bears and it put them up 7-6 over the Ravens.
.@Darnell_M1 60 YARDS FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!!! #BALvsCHI | #DaBears pic.twitter.com/Vb1Jt6nle
The Jakeem Grant punt returns are an adventure even when he lets it go.

"Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman called a better game for Huntley (26-for-36, 219 yards) than Nagy and offensive coordinator Bill Lazor had going for Fields (4-for-11, 79 yards), especially in the first half." @adamjahns column theathletic.com/2970084/2021/1…
#Bears NT Eddie Goldman slow to get up after that last play.
Bears safety Deon Bush (26) arrives too late to prevent Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (14) from catching a 30-yard pass from Tyler Huntley that set up the winning touchdown Sunday at Soldier Field. | Jamie Sabau/Getty ImagesAfter holding the Ravens to 238 yards and sacking Huntley five times in the first 58 minutes, the Bears’ defense withered again in crunch time — with egregious errors fueling the Ravens’ five-play, 72-yard touchdown drive in the final 1:33.
