After months of speculation, Aaron Rodgers has finally found his new home for the 2025 NFL season.

Rodgers will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. That's just in time to get him on the field for minicamp, which starts next week.

It's the team we all expected him to land with, but it's still worth discussing the fantasy impact the move has.

Rodgers' Fantasy Outlook

It will be Rodgers' 21st NFL season in 2025, and his best days are certainly behind him, but he showed he has some gas left in the tank while playing for the Jets last season.

Across 17 games, he completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He rushed for just 107 yards and no touchdowns on 22 attempts.

Using ESPN scoring settings, Rodgers scored the 15th-most fantasy points among quarterbacks last season. That makes him a better deep-league fantasy option, but also someone to possibly stream in the right matchups.

I think we can all agree the Steelers are a better fantasy situation for Rodgers than the Jets were. Let's see what weapons Rodgers has at his disposal and who might benefit from the veteran QB being on the roster now.

Other Steelers' Fantasy Outlooks

The pass catchers will benefit most from Rodgers being there, but the running game also gets a little boost too. Rodgers might be past his prime, but he's still capable of leading an offense.

DK Metcalf is currently the Steelers' No. 1 receiver for 2025. He was traded to Pittsburgh this offseason.

Metcalf had 992 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 66 receptions and 108 targets last season. He played in 15 games. Metcalf has had Geno Smith throwing to him the past couple seasons, so now having Rodgers throwing to him is a slight upgrade.

Robert Woods and Calvin Austin III are the other projected starting wideouts in Pittsburgh. Scotty Miller, Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek are the top backup options.

Woods got in 15 games last season with the Texans, but had just 203 yards and no scores on 20 grabs and 30 targets. He hasn't gone over 600 yards in any of the past four seasons.

Austin flashed some potential last season when he caught 36 of his 58 targets for 548 yards and four touchdowns across 17 games.

Miller was in Pittsburgh last season, tallying just 69 yards on five catches and nine targets. Skowronek posted 69 yards on five catches and targets.

Wilson was a third-round pick of the team in 2024, but only appeared in one game during an injury-riddled rookie season.

Tight end Pat Freiermuth was the team's top passing target after George Pickens last season. Freiermuth had 653 yards and seven touchdowns on 65 receptions and 78 targets over 17 contests.

Of the receiving options, only Metcalf and Freiermuth look like notable fantasy assets, even with the addition of Rodgers throwing to them. Austin has some upside and could maybe step into a larger role in 2025, but he's more of a deep-league asset right now - maybe he can become a standard league threat as the season moves along.

Every other receiver or tight end on the team look like longshots to be fantasy assets in even the deepest of leagues.

After the departure of Najee Harris this offseason, Pittsburgh drafted Kaleb Johnson in the third round of the NFL draft. He likely will split the backfield with Jaylen Warren.

Warren and Harris have been usable fantasy assets in the past while sharing the backfield, and Warren and Johnson might do the same in 2025. Those two backs can alleviate some of the pressure off a 41-year-old Rodgers and the team's passing game.

Across 15 games last season, Warren had 821 total yards, but just one touchdown across 158 touches. He rushed for 511 yards and a score on 120 carries, then caught 38 of his 47 targets for 310 yards and no scores.

Johnson is likely to take over for Harris. Depending on how quickly he catches on to things, he could operate as the lead back, even though things might be split 60/40.

Final Thoughts

The addition of Rodgers will help several Steelers, and give the team some optimism heading into 2025 instead of having Mason Rudolph or rookie Will Howard leading the team.

Rodgers doesn't add a big fantasy boost to any player, but guys like Metcalf, Freiermuth, Johnson and Warren could all be weekly fantasy options, with Austin maybe factoring in often too.

Rodgers likes to play ball with his buddies, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Pittsburgh add some more offensive playmakers to the mix between now and the start of the season. It seems unlikely that any free agent addition or trade acquisition now would be a big-name player capable of big fantasy things, but FantasySP will cover things if that kind of move is made.
