Best Monday Night Football Week 2 Bets: Chris Olave, George Pickens Anytime TDs

Cam Giangrande Sep 18th 1:29 PM EDT.

While watching Monday Night Football last week, a couple of phrases came to mind: "Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?”,  and, “A funny thing happened on the way to the play.” Just four plays into Aaron Rodgers’ Jets career, as everyone knows, he went down with a ruptured Achilles tendon and is out for the season.

When an injury occurs to a player you’ve made a prop bet on, or even to someone else on the team he plays for, it can be financially devastating. In this case, losing Rodgers potentially was. However, the Jets rallied, and the night wasn’t too bad, except, of course, for Rodgers.

I liked the Jets, and they managed to win. And I liked Garrett Wilson to score an anytime TD, and he did. Every bet involving Rodgers was a bust, but that’s gambling. This week, there are two MNF games, giving us double the chances to get payback.

Best Monday Night Football Bets Week 2

I tend not to like to bet anything too exotic. And since the advent of legal sports betting, exotic bets are like an all-you-can-eat buffet for a fat man … and since I’m a fat man, I can say that. For someone like me who takes an hour to order my dinner off of the Cheesecake Factorty’s vast menu, it is overwhelming.

I do my best to live by the adage of KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid. When it comes to sports betting, less is more. With that said, I have found four prop bets, one for each team, that I like this week.

To begin with, it used to be blasphemy to talk about home underdogs, especially on Monday Night. Both the Saints and the Browns are favored on the road. The Saints are a three-point favorite against the Panthers, and the Browns are a 2.5-point favorite against the Steelers. I like the two favorites.

Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints Anytime TD (+200)

Similarly to Garrett Wilson for the Jets, Olave is the go-to guy for the Saints. With a chance to double your money at +200, there is a tremendous likelihood scores his first TD on the season tonight.

George Pickens, Pittsburgh Steelers Anytime TD (+280)

Pickens only scored four TDs last season and hasn’t scored one yet this year. For the team to have any shot to excel for the season, Pickens needs to build off of his 52-catch, four-TD rookie campaign. And for the Steelers to have a shot in this game, the Pickett-to-Pickens connection has to click. For a return of $280 on a $100 bet, that’s enough of a reward to say it happens on Monday.

Bryce Young & Deshaun Watson Anytime Non-passing TDs (Both +550)

Do I think both Young and Watson will score a TD? Absolutely not. Am I parlaying them to do so? Absolutely not. However, with the bright lights of the big game with the stage basically to themselves in their respective games, I think there’s a great chance that one of them gets inside the five-yard line and rushes at least one TD in themselves. If you throw $100 on each of them and either of them does it, you’ll win a tidy $450. If they both do, you’ll come away with $1,100.
