2023 NFL Draft: NFC Draft Grades

Mark Morales-Smith May 3rd 6:20 AM EDT.

Now that the 2023 NFL Draft is over it is time to grade each team's picks. Now we will take a look at the NFC.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles

The rich got richer here as the Eagles killed it this year. Jalen Carter slid to them in the first and then they got Nolan Smith at the bottom of Round 1 as well. In Rounds 3 and 4, they turn around and grab DBs Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo at a great value. This was an outstanding draft for Philly.

Grade: A

Dallas Cowboys

We didn't love this draft for the Cowboys. Mazi Smith should be solid, but we aren't sure he's a special player and nothing else they did impressed us. We don't see many difference-makers in this class.

Grade: C-

New York Giants

The Giants had a great first two nights of the draft. CB Deonte Banks in Round 1 could be a steal in a deep class and John Michael Schmitz and Jalin Hyatt on Day 2 are both high-upside picks with legitimate potential to be Day 1 starters. You can't ask for much more out of a draft haul.

Grade: A-

Washington Commanders

We do not like this draft class at all for Washington. Emmanuel Forbes was the wrong corner to take. There were at least two better corners who went in Round 2. The only pick that they made that we liked was Jartavius Martin in the second round. This was a bad draft top to bottom.

Grade: D

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings

A swing and a miss for Minnesota. Jordan Addison is not a first-round talent and nothing else they did was anything special. We aren't sure they drafted one starter in this class. Awful.

Grade: F

Detroit Lions

Detroit had a very interesting draft, to say the least. They got a ton of talent, just went about it in a strange way. If you told us they drafted Brian Branch with pick 12 and Jahmyr Gibbs in the second we'd love it. It was a strange journey, but all's well that ends well. On top of those two, they also added Jack Campbell, Sam LaPorta, and the potential steal of the draft Hendon Hooker in the third. If Hooker pans out this could be an all-time draft class. Even if he doesn't they added four high-end starters.

Grade: A

Green Bay Packers

The Packers had 13 picks and somehow we didn't like any of them. Lukas Van Ness may have been the worst pick of this draft and no one else is a standout. If they are lucky they might get a tight end who can be a starter for them.

Grade: F

Chicago Bears

This was a decent draft for the Bears. It could have been better though. Darnell Wright was an excellent first-rounder. After that, they got some talented players like Gervon Dexter and Tyrique Stevenson, but we aren't sure they added the franchise-changing type of guys they were hoping for this year.

Grade: C

NFC South

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs' draft was also very average. There isn't a lot here that we love or hate. Calijah Kancey may have been a bit of a reach at 19, and the rest of the draft had some solid pieces but not many difference-makers.

Grade: C-

Carolina Panthers

Carolina traded up and got their guy. The success of this draft will hinge fully on the success of Bryce Young. They didn't have many picks later because they were traded away for this pick. They saw a QB they targeted as a top guy and went and got him. We will see how it plays out. If he can hold up physically, he should be a good one.

Grade: B-

New Orleans Saints

There was one pick we loved for the Saints and it's RB Kendre Miller in Round 3. We are extremely high on him. The rest of this draft was mediocre including their first and second-round picks. There is grade is probably higher than it should be because of how high we are on Miller.

Grade: C-

Atlanta Falcons

We all understand how good Bijan Robinson is, but taking a running back at pick-eight for the rebuilding Falcons was a mistake. This is not a knock on the talent of Robinson at all. This just isn't how you build a team. A first-round RB should be the final piece to a puzzle not the key cog. He will be great for fantasy, but we don't see this resulting in a ton of wins for Atlanta.

Grade: D+

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers

The Niners didn't have a pick until Pick 24 of the third round. They did fine with what they had, they just couldn't get elite talent. They loaded up on defensive depth, grabbed an excellent kicker, and grabbed a couple of late tight ends. This is another draft that would look a lot better if you considered why they don't have those picks.

Grade: C-

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks had an incredible draft starting with Devin Witherspoon who is a stud. Then they grab Jaxon Smith-Njigba with their second first-rounder. They nailed the second round as well with Derick Hall and Zach Charbonnet. This was a great draft for Seattle.

Grade: A

Los Angeles Rams

What a disaster for the Rams. Granted, they got their Super Bowl and should be happy. However, getting that championship has left this franchise in shambles. They went into another offseason in cap hell with no first-round pick, but this time they are coming off a five-win season with no hope for the immediate future. It will get worse before it gets better for the Rams.

Grade: D-

Arizona Cardinals

We love the Paris Johnson Jr. pick, but feel like they could have done more with the assets that they had in this draft. Still, they did trade back from pick three and still have future assets as well. So that has to be considered as well. However, after Round 1 this is another team without much to love or hate later in the draft.

Grade: C
