Tom Brady Retires "For Good" After 23 Seasons
The greatest quarterback of all time Tom Brady" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#player-pop-up" href="/nfl_player_news/Tom_Brady/">Tom Brady has retired. Again. However, this time he says it’s “for good.”
The 45-year-old Brady is hanging up his cleats, seemingly for real this time. This is truly an end of an era. There is a large portion of the NFL fanbase who has never known an NFL without Brady in it. There are kids that weren’t born when Drew Bledsoe went down clearing the way for Brady to dominate the league that can now legally drink in a bar. His greatness has transcended football as he is embedded into our culture. He’s the superstar quarterback with a ridiculous seven championship rings. We hope you appreciated his greatness while you got to see it because we may never see anything like this again in our lifetimes.
His list of records and achievements is too long to long to list. If you look up a passing record for the regular season, playoffs, or Super Bowls you are likely to find his name at the top of the list. No one has ever dominated the league like Brady. He is the greatest winner in NFL history and it’s not particularly close. Even in his final year with the Buccaneers he won the NFC South and threw for 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns. Now for the first time in a long time in 2023 an NFL season will kick off and Brady won’t be on a roster.
While the league and fans will have to move on from Brady, the Buccaneers will as well. It’s unclear what path they will take. If they think their roster is good enough as currently constructed they could go out and try to get a veteran like Derek Carr. They could also blow it up and rebuild with a rookie quarterback. They have valuable assets they could trade off to rebuild through the draft. Players like Lavonte David, Leonard Fournette" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#player-pop-up" href="/nfl_player_news/Leonard_Fournette/">Leonard Fournette, and Mike Evans are all at or approaching 30. With so much up in the air, it’s very difficult to judge the current Bucs’ players for next year’s fantasy football season. We will have to take a wait-and-see approach and see how things play out in free agency and the draft.
