Week 13 is officially in the books after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off a miraculous comeback against the New Orleans Saints to defeat them, 17-16 on Monday Night Football. The final week of the fantasy football regular season is going to be tough. After seeing all 32 teams in action in Week 12 and only two teams on bye in Week 13, a half a dozen squads will be on the sidelines in Week 14. Many fantasy owners will have to find bye-week replacements for their superstars. Let’s take a look at all the players fantasy owners will need replacements for in Week 14.

With 26 teams in action this week, there are not as many streamable options on the waiver wire, especially at the tight end position. That said, there are still some very strong options at the other three positions. It seems that every single season, this is the time when a few players emerge as league-winning contributors. As we gear up for Week 14, it is time to make those pivotal waiver wire claims and FAAB bids. Week 12’s waiver wire gem – Samaaje Perine – has been an absolute stud for fantasy owners since Joe Mixon went down. Can we find another Perine in the rough this week?

Looking At Week 14 Fantasy Football Predictive Adds:
[predict="add-2022-14"]
RB James Cook, Buffalo Bills
Devin Singletary has been Buffalo’s lead back since Week 1 but we may have witnessed a changing of the guard on Thursday Night Football when the Bills defeated the New England Patriots, 24-10. Although Singletary was the one who found the end zone, Cook had more carries and receptions than the veteran and outproduced him in terms of yardage. Cook finished with 105 all-purpose yards (64 rushing and 41 receiving on six receptions) and totaled 20 touches for the first time in his NFL career. Considering the rookie was just two weeks removed from a season-high 86 rushing yards, the fact that he was so involved in the passing game is incredibly encouraging, especially for those of you who participate in PPR leagues. Cook has a matchup looming with the New York Jets and although he will likely continue to split the load with Singletary, there is a very real chance that the rookie has surpassed the veteran on the depth chart. Fantasy owners are doing the right thing by priortizing Cook on the waiver wire heading into Week 14. He could easily make a splash in the fantasy football postseason.

QB Tyler Huntley, Baltimore Ravens
Huntley is virtually available in every single league and is an enticing option heading into Week 14 with Lamar Jackson likely out after injuring his ankle early in Baltimore’s Week 13 victory over the Denver Broncos. Although Huntley doesn’t have the most accurate arm in the league, he is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the NFL. Huntley may not have the best supporting cast around him but he still has TE Mark Andrews at his disposal and WR DeMarcus Robinson has begun to make some noise late in the season. Not to mention, the Ravens face a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has permitted the ninth-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. If you need a replacement for Justin Fields or Aaron Rodgers this week, you could certainly do worse than Huntley.

QB Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans
Tanehill has had an up-and-down season in 2022. In his last four games since returning from an injury that kept him sidelined for two games, Tannehill has amassed 1,020 passing yards, five touchdown passes, and just one interception. In Week 14, the Titans have a date with a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The biggest concern with Tannehill is his supporting cast, especially after Treylon Burks went down with a concussion after securing a miraculous touchdown in Week 13. Burks had emerged as Tennessee’s WR1 so that is definitely an injury to monitor if you are considering adding Tannehill. The Titans are a run-first team and if they get out to an early lead against the Jaguars on Sunday, Tannehill won’t be asked to do much. Although I understand why fantasy owners are flocking toward the veteran, I’d be a little wary. His two best healthy pass-catchers at the moment are Robert Woods and Austin Hooper. Yuck!
[career="Ryan Tannehill"]
WR Corey Davis, New York Jets
The New York Jets’ passing game has come alive with Mike White under center. Garrett Wilson is doing his thing but Corey Davis has also seen a resurgence. Davis was very strong to start this season. He totaled 70+ receiving yards in three of his first four games and caught two touchdowns over that span. However, Davis went down with an injury in Week 7 and only mangaged a single reception for nine yards in his first game back in Week 12. Well, Mike White was able to get Davis going in New York’s 27-22 loss to the Minneosta Vikings this past Sunday. Davis hauled in five receptions out of a season-high 10 targets and finished with a season-high 85 recieiving yards. So long as White continues to let it fly, Davis is worthy of consideration as a spot start in Week 14. The Jets have a very tall task against the Buffalo Bills on the horizon but Tre’Davious White should shadow Garrett Wilson, which should give Davis a few one-on-one opportunities.
TE Daniel Bellinger, New York Giants
Considering the lack of weapons in the New York’s passing game, it was great to see the rookie tight end get back on the field in Week 13. Bellinger had missed the Giants’ previous four games and immediately made an impact. He hauled in all five of his targets, though he only amassed 24 yards. Better days are to come for Bellinger who should be on the field quite a lot given the injuries to New York’s receivers and Bellinger’s ability to block. After Darius Slayton, he may just be Daniel Jones’ next-best target.
QB Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Now that Jimmy G has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Purdy should be considered by all fantasy owners in need of a quarterback. Yes, Purdy was the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Although he has been nicknamed “Mr. Irrelevant” considering when he was selected in the draft, he was far from irrelevant on Sunday when leading the Niners to a 33-17 victory over a very good Miami Dolphins team. Purdy completed 25-of-37 passes for 210 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. With Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle all in his arsenal, Purdy arguably has the best supporting cast in the entire NFL. The Niners have a tough test in Week 14 against a stout Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense but Purdy proved in Week 13 that he should be given the benefit of the doubt. While I wouldn’t necessarily start him in Week 14, he is absolutely worthy of a roster spot.
TE Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans
Okonkwo has now seen 10 targets over his last two games and produced season highs in receptions (four) and receiving yards (68) in Tennessee’s Week 13 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. With Treylon Burks looking questionable for the Titans’ Week 14 matchup against the Jaguars, Okonkwo is likely to make some noise. He seems to be earning Tannehill’s trust and how has 30+ receiving yards in five consecutive games. If you are in desperate need of a tight end in Week 14 (aren’t we all?), Okonkwo is worth a look.
RB Cam Akers, Los Angeles Rams
It’s odd to see Akers’ name on a waiver-wire list but he was so abysmal to start the season that most fantasy football owners gave up on him. The Rams have been perhaps the most disappointing team in the NFL this season as their offense has failed to live up to their lofty Super Bowl expectations after last year’s historic season. For a while, it was looking like rookie Kyren Williams would be given the opportunity to be the workhorse in Los Angeles’ backfield but Akers seems to have reclaimed that role after his Week 13 performance against the Seattle Seahawks. He tallied 19 fantasy points on the day with 60 rushing yards and two touchdowns. While it’s hard to trust anyone on the Rams’ offense at this point of the season with Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp likely out for the season, Akers is essentially a lock to get 15 touches per game. You don’t often find that on the waiver wire so if he’s available, I’d scoop him up.
