Week 12 FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups: How Much To Spend On Samaje Perine, James Cook, OBJ & More!

Dr. Roto Nov 22nd 8:10 AM EST.

It's that critical time of the week to pinpoint the top players available on the waiver wire at each position. However, not only do we need to identify who is worthy of a roster spot but we also need to determine how much of our FAAB budgets to spend on each player. Let's take an in-depth look at how much fantasy owners should consider spending on the top available free agents heading into Week 12 of the fantasy football season!

Fantasy SP is proud to announce the recent launch of our NFL DFS Optimizer! Dominate on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo with our trustworthy Lineup Generator!

Quarterbacks

Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons

Just this past weekend Falcons HC Arthur Smith confirmed that Mariota will be Atlanta's quarterback so long as the team is still in the playoff hunt. Even though he doesn't take as many chances downfield as I might like he still provides a lot of extra yardage with his legs. The Falcons have a tough schedule coming up which might mean that Mariota will need to throw a little more which would help his fantasy value. FAAB: $60-80

Taylor Heinicke, Washington Commanders

I was very happy to see that the head coach of the Commanders, Ron Rivera, has decided to let Heinicke be the team’s starter moving forward. The team has responded very well to him, and he's given his playmakers a chance to make plays which is all you can ask for. The Commanders have a few tough games coming up with the Giants, 49ers, and Browns but I still think there's enough here to keep Heinicke on our fantasy radar. FAAB: $30-50

Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have played two very good games since Ryan returned to the lineup. They still have an outside chance to make the playoffs but they're going to have to beat a few of the better teams in the league such as the Cowboys, Vikings, and Chargers over the coming weeks. The Cowboys and Chargers both have very weak run defenses which should be able to set Ryan up for some good play action passing downfield. I don't think you're going to win your league because of Ryan but you won't lose it because of him either. FAAB: $20-30

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans

The Titans are playing pretty good football right now and they have a legitimate chance to make a deep run in the playoffs if they can get Tannehill and his receivers on track. Over the next couple of weeks, they play the Bengals, Eagles, and Jaguars, so that is a bit of a rough go for Tannehill but I still think he should be able to give you at least 220 passing yards and maybe some rushing yards as well. FAAB: $10-20

Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers

I am a true believer in Pickett's talent. Moreover, I love his weapons--George Pickens and Dionte Johnson who are two outstanding young receivers. If the coaching staff will just trust Pickett a little more he could be a great fantasy asset the rest of the way. FAAB: $30-50

Running Backs

Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals

Picking up Perine is really dependent on Joe Mixon and how he recovers from his concussion. If Perine is the starter then he has a chance to produce pretty big numbers. He is a good receiver out of the backfield and a tough runner as well so let's watch him very closely and bid accordingly depending on Mixon’s prognosis. FAAB: $50-250 depending on Mixon

James Cook, Buffalo Bills

I was very high on Cook during the preseason thinking that he would have a good chance to become a vital part of the Bills’ offense however that didn't seem to happen over the first few weeks of the season. But now if you watch Cook it appears as if the game has slowed down for him considerably which is a remarkable thing to see for a rookie mid-season. All it’s going to take is one injury for him to be a significant part of the backfield and a potential league winner. FAAB: $250-300

Marlon Mack, Denver Broncos

On Monday Denver decided to finally waive Melvin Gordon and they also said that Chase Edmonds is going to be out for a few weeks with an injury. While it's possible that Mike Boone may return from the IR, I think it's also equally as possible that Marlon Mack starts to see more carries behind Latavius Murray. FAAB: $50-60

Damien Harris, New England Patriots

As the president of the Rhamondre Stevenson fan club it is disappointing to see Damien Harris get a bunch of carries like he did against the Jets. But I know that Belichick wants to have two guys running the ball and Harris will be used on 1st and 2nd down and by the goal line. If you're in a standard league or even a half point PPR league, he definitely has value. FAAB: $150-200

Jerick McKinnon, Kansas City Chiefs

When the Chiefs are behind it is McKinnon who is on the field and I think that gives him immediate value where he could get about six or seven points a week with the possibility of way more. FAAB: $80-100

JaMychal Hasty, Jacksonville Jaguars

Keep your eye on Hasty who is now the backup to Travis Etienne in Jacksonville. Hasty has some upside in the passing game and might have stand-alone value should Etienne get injured. He is a terrific blocker which ensures he will be on the field. FAAB: $30-50

Wide Receivers

Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans

The two names that I've been giving you all season have been Rachaad White of Tampa Bay at running back and Treylon Burks of Tennessee at wide receiver. Burks finally showed last Thursday how dominant he can be by going for 111 yards in the game against the Packers. In short he's a difference maker with outstanding size and speed and if he's available in your league you need to make sure that you get him right now. FAAB: $300-350

Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions

Williams has been designated to return from the IR and this gives him three weeks to come back to the team. Because the Thanksgiving week game is on a short week there's pretty much no chance that he will play in week 12 but I do think that there's a reasonable chance he plays in week 13 and a most definite chance he plays in week 14. I don't know how well he's going to perform right out of the gate, but I know that the talent is there and I always bet on talent. FAAB: $100-125

Odell Beckham, Jr, Free Agent

Recent reports have Beckham signing right after Thanksgiving which I think sounds about right. I think there's a good chance that he might play in week 14 and if I had to bet on it right now I think he's going to go to the Dallas Cowboys which would be a great fit for him. FAAB: $100-125

Kenny Golladay, New York Giants

With Wan’Dale Robinson out for the season with a torn ACL it feels like this might be Golladay’s chance to come back from the dead and finally give the Giants some decent numbers like they've been hoping for since the day they signed him. FAAB: $50-80

Jarvis Landry, New Orleans Saints

Landry is one of the best route runners in the league. He's never going to be a guy at this point of his career who's going to put up a double-digit reception game but he should be pretty consistent for 10 or 12 fantasy points per week especially if Andy Dalton is the quarterback. FAAB: $50-80

Nico Collins, Houston Texans

It feels like the Texans are tanking right now and so with that maybe there'll be some more garbage time production for Collins. He was certainly on a lot of the high stakes radars prior to the season starting so maybe it's not too late for him to emerge right now. FAAB: $100-120

David Bell, Cleveland Browns

Deshaun Watson is expected back in Week 13 which should raise the fantasy value of Bell who seems to be overlooked by Jacoby Brissett. FAAB: 20-40

DeAndre Carter, Los Angeles Chargers

With Mike Williams expected to be out for another couple of weeks and Keenan Allen still dealing with a hamstring injury Carter appears to be the solid number two option for the Chargers. While I still like Josh Palmer more, Carter should get about 6 to 7 targets per game which keeps him at least around 10-12 fantasy points which is startable in most leagues. FAAB: $80-100

Trent Sherfield, Miami Dolphins

I want every piece of the Miami offense that I can possibly find. Sheffield is the handcuff to both Hill and Waddle and someone who should be rostered in 16-team leagues. FAAB: $20-30

Tight Ends

Austin Hooper, Tennessee Titans

When Hooper came over in the offseason, I was excited because I remembered his days back in Atlanta thinking that he could provide the Titans with a big target in the middle of the field. Up until week 11 he really hadn't done much to speak of but last week he did score two touchdowns so maybe this is the beginning of something new for him. FAAB: $50-60

Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals

I really liked McBride coming out of college because I watched him play and I saw that he was a very good route runner who had surprisingly good hands for a guy of his size. It was a little disappointing to see the Cardinals draft him considering they already had Zach Ertz but now that Ertz is injured McBride should certainly step up and be a big part of their plans. FAAB: $70-80

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

I have been frustrated with Johnson and I think it has clouded my fantasy opinion of him because it seems like every time I've ever played him in DFS or in my seasonal leagues he's let me down in the past. But it seems like right now that Johnson has become an integral part of the Saints passing offense and someone who can be used moving forward this season. FAAB: $80-100

Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders

I feel like I'm thinking back to 2021 by listing Thomas here but at the same time I do feel like he has been an underutilized portion of the Commanders' offense. There's definitely skill here and if Heinicke starts looking his way the production might follow. FAAB: $60-80
