Week 2 Fantasy Football Trade Value Charts

Will Desvallees Sep 14th 6:38 PM EDT.

Though we are just heading into Week 2, the Trade Value Charts have already started moving up and down. Some star running backs including Austin Ekeler and Alvin Kamara saw their trade values drop substantially over the last week due to relatively quiet performances in Week 1. This makes them prime trade targets to shop low for. On the other hand, big games from WRs  Michael Pittman and Robbie Anderson. Let's take a look at the best fantasy football players to trade for or to trade away heading into Week 2.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Buy-Low Targets

RB Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers (18.39)

Aaron Jones did not get the fantasy production many owners had hoped for in Week 1. Instead, A.J. Dillon was the one who finished with 20+ fantasy points after punching one into the end zone. Jones was held to five carries for 49 rushing yards, three catches for 27 yards, and failed to get into the end zone in their 7-23 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Obviously, Green Bay’s offense was suffocated by the Vikings’ defense in this game. As a result, Jones saw less opportunities to run the football, the same way Aaron Rodgers had fewer drives than usual in this game. Jones dropped by -2.8 points in the Trade Value Charts as a result of his numbers on Sunday. Jones still led the team in rushing yards despite having just five rushing attempts in comparison to A.J. Dillon’s 10. While Dillon averaged 4.5 yards per carry in Week 1, Jones averaged a whopping 9.8 yards per carry in his five rushing attempts. Aaron Jones will get going and has trade value has simply dropped too much for him to not be targeted by fantasy owners looking to be on the winning side of an early 2022 fantasy football trade.

RB Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints (15.72)

Alvin Kamara entered Week 1 with an injury to his ribs. While this wasn’t reported before the game, Kamara was clearly limited throughout the contest. In addition, the Saints offense was completely contained through the first three quarters of this matchup, limiting the Saints’ offensive players from producing as they should. While Kamara is dealing with an injury to his ribs, his trade value has dropped by a whopping -7.6 points after Week 1. James Robinson and even Cam Akers (who had zero fantasy points in his first game) are now ranked well ahead of AK-41 in the NFL Trade Value Charts. While Kamara is questionable for Week 2, this injury should be short term and shouldn’t prevent the star from balling out this season. You have a unique chance to land him at an incredibly discounted price following his Week 1 blunder.

RB Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers (20.78)

Austin Ekeler also had a quiet game in Week 1 and certainly let his fantasy owners down. When you select someone within the first five picks of the draft, you expect around 20 fantasy points per week. However, Ekeler only managed 36 rushing yards on 14 attempts. He therefore averaged an abysmal 2.6 yards per carry in the season opener against the Raiders. He also had four receptions for 36 yards in the contest but wasn’t able to get into the endzone at all on Sunday. While this could be a testament to the Raiders’ defense, Ekeler’s inefficiency on Sunday is certainly raising eyebrows. Still, he had 911 rushing yards, 647 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns in 2021, making him one of the hottest RBs heading into this season. Consider his Week 1 performance to be a fantasy flop and he should easily bounce back in the weeks to come. As a result of his performance on Sunday, Ekeler has dropped -8.3 points in the NFL Trade Value Charts. This puts him behind Cordarelle Patterson (20.90), Leonard Fournette (21.23), and Javonte Williams (21.30). At the very least, Ekeler is without a question better and more valuable than all three of the guys listed above who’ve risen above him in the charts. He is yet another star running back who’s inefficiency in Week 1 has substantially deflated his trade value. As a result, he is one of the best running backs to target in a trade heading into Week 2.

TE Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (17.18)

Lamar Jackson was targeting his wide receivers in the Ravens’ season-opener on Sunday. Devin Duvernay caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Rashod Bateman had two catches for 59 yards and one touchdown. In total, Mark Andrews had five receptions for 52 yards but did not find the end zone on Sunday. Heading into the season, many have expected Andrews to see a hefty uptick in his numbers as a result of Marquise Brown’s move to the Arizona Cardinals. This still makes sense, and Duvernay will not be getting into the endzone moving forward like he did in Week 1. Expect Andrews to see more targets in Week 2, and to be the tight end Lamar Jackson goes to. He is the second-most valuable tight end in the league (behind Trave Kelce) despite his quiet Week 1 outting.

WR D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers (14.89)

Moore only had three catches for 43 yards in the Panthers’ Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The majority of Baker Mayfields’ targets went in the direction of WR Robbie Anderson, who finished the game with five receptions for 102 yards (20.4 AVG) and a touchdown. In Week 1, we’ve seen a lot of No. 1 options at either RB or WR get snubbed and Moore is no exception. Over the last three seasons (2019-2021), Moore has racked up 1,150+ and four touchdowns. With an upgrade at the quarterback position in Baker Mayfield, expect Moore to get those numbers back up. It’s not as if Anderson was going to become the Panthers’ top route runner. Moore is still the clear-cut WR1 in Carolina.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Sell-High Targets

QB Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders (15.83)

Carson Wentz had a surprisingly productive start for the Washington Commanders on Sunday. He went 27-of-41 for 313 yards and four touchdowns. While he did throw two interceptions, Wentz produced bigger offensive numbers than many would have expected in Week 1. As a result, his trade value has skyrocketed since Sunday. Wentz has risen by +4.8 points in the trade value charts, which places him ahead of Kirk Cousins (15.55), Derek Carr (15.10), and Ryan Tannehill (13.88). While Wentz went undrafted in many leagues, he now has a trade value that places him ahead of multiple big-name quarterbacks who were selected in fantasy football drafts. If you believe that Wentz’s game on Sunday was a one-time thing, then this week is the perfect time to try to trade him away for many other quarterbacks who could be on your radar. The fact that Wentz has a higher trade value than Cousins, Carr, and Tannehill should be enough for intelligent fantasy owners to make a move.

WR Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts (25.15)

Michael Pittman had a great game catching nine passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. This made his trade value blow up after Sunday, as he now ranks ahead of guys like WR CeeDee Lamb who had a quiet season debut for the Cowboys. Pittman has jumped up +7.4 points in the trade value charts which places him ahead of CeeDee Lamb (23.10), Jaylen Waddle (21.72), and Mike Evans (21.45). While the second-year wide receiver is playing ferociously, he isn’t more valuable than the three players listed above. As a result, his trade value is deflated enough to cash in on heading into Week 2.
