Emmanuel Sanders Retires From NFL
Emmanuel Sanders announced today that he is retiring from the NFL as a member of the Denver Broncos. Sanders has suited up for the Saints and the Bills over the last few seasons, but went to two Super Bowls and won one with Peyton Manning up in Denver.
Before entering the NFL, Sanders was playing WR for SMU where he erupted in his last two seasons. As a Junior in 2008, Sanders had 67 catches for 958 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He followed that up with 98 receptions for 1,339 yards and seven touchdowns as a Senior. Subsequently, he declared for the 2010 NFL Draft where he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 83 overall selection.

After his first three years in Pittsburgh, Sanders headed to Denver where he would line up with the late Demaryius Thomas. He had a career season in 2014 in his first year in Denver, where Sanders caught 71.6% of his passes for 1,404 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. For three consecutive seasons in Denver, Sanders caught for at least 1,000+ yards and five or more touchdowns.

Under Peyton Manning, this team would go on to win Super Bowl 50 after a stellar 12-4 season. In that game, he caught six passes for 83 yards. Mid-way through the 2019 season, the Broncos sent Sanders to San Francisco. He played the 2020 season with the Saints (726 yards, five touchdowns) and the 2021 season with the Bills (626 yards, four touchdowns).
In his NFL career (2010-2021), Sanders accumulated 9,245 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns. He will always be remembered for his pivotal role on the mid-2010s Broncos playing alongside Manning, Thomas, C.J. Anderson, and Ronnie Hillman.
