Super Bowl LVI Betting Recap
The NFL season is finally over as Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp led the Rams to a 23-20 victory over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. After the Bengals came out of the second half with an electrifying 75-yard touchdown pass to Tee Higgins (Higgins got away with an offensive pass interference call on Jalen Ramsey), it appeared the Bengals had a shot at winning this game. With Odell Beckham Jr. out of the game after another torn ACL, Stafford struggled without his second-best receiver and with Tyler Higbee and Kendall Blanton sidelined.
Third-string tight end Brycen Hopkins came up huge, hauling in all four of his targets for 41 receiving yards. Following Cincinnati’s touchdown to start the second half, Stafford threw an interception that bounced right off the hands of Ben Skowronek. Fortunately, Aaron Donald and the Rams’ defensive line pressured Joe Burrow and forced a field goal despite the Bengals’ amazing starting field position. relied on Kupp entirely on the Rams’ game-winning drive.
With the Rams down by 20-16, Stafford decided to go back to his top wideout despite the double-coverage that Kupp was drawing from Cincinnati’s secondary. Kupp had three receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown in the first half but turned it on late in the game. With the rest of Los Angeles’ weapons struggling, particularly in the running game, Stafford had no choice but to throw into double coverage. Fortunately for the Rams, Kupp delivered a game-saving drive. On a 4th and 1 play with 5:00 remaining in the game, Sean McVay called a running play to Kupp, who passed the sticks and gave the Rams a new set of downs. Kupp proceeded to catch five balls on that drive, including the game-winning touchdown at the goal line with less than two minutes remaining. Aaron Donald and the Rams’ defense did their job at the end and the rest is history.
Hopefully, you listened to the picks I provided in my Super Bowl 56 Betting Preview. I predicted almost exactly how this game would play out, including correct picks for the moneyline, against the spread, and the Over / Under. Let’s take a look at a few bets I won myself.
One Game Parlay:
I decided to take the three picks from the article (Rams ML, Bengals +4.5, Under 48.5) and add a few player props that I thought would easily hit. With seven legs to this parlay, I used alternative receiving yardage lines for Kupp (Over 89.5) and Ja’Marr Chase (Over 64.5), which I’m very thankful for. Had I used their actual lines, this bet wouldn’t have cashed. Burrow throwing at least one touchdown pass was a pretty easy prop to add. I wasn’t sure Stafford would throw at least two, but he finished with three touchdown passes. It’s rare to hit a seven-leg parlay at +4000 odds, but that’s the type of advice we provide at Fantasy SP. We put our money where our mouths are. So that’s how I turned $10 into $410, but we weren’t finished there.

First Touchdown Scorer Player Prop
In my Super Bowl props article, I thought Odell Beckham would play a pivotal role in the Rams’ offense. That was clearly the case before he went down with an injury. I even went so far as to say that I was fairly confident Beckham would find the end zone in the biggest game of his career. At +1000 odds, it was hard to pass up Beckham as the first touchdown scorer. Although I thought Kupp was more likely, I loved the odds on Beckham. Given all the attention that Kupp garners, I figured Beckham would get a few one-on-one opportunities in the red zone. Stafford found OBJ on a 17-yard laser to the right corner of the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. So $25 turned into $275, a $250 profit.
Other Small Parlays:
Since BetMGM provided me with a free $30 bet for the big game since I opted in to one of their sweet promotions, I decided to go with my gut and place that wager on a small three-leg parlay that involved the Rams winning, and Kupp and Beckham each reaching a certain threshold in receiving yards.
Although I thought the Rams would be victorious, I was fairly confident that the Bengals would cover the spread and keep the game close. Therefore, I did another parlay taking the Over on the best three members of the Bengals while taking Cincinnati’s handicap.
Since both of these parlays hit, I turned $14.87 (plus a free $30 wager) into $137.43.
Super LVI Betting Conclusion:
I did lose one parlay that was worth $10. However, at the end of the day, I turned about $60 into about $700+. Now that’s how we do it here at Fantasy SP.
