Week 11: Identifying Fantasy Football Trading Trends Using Predictive Analytics
There have been numerous upsets over the last two weeks across the NFL so it was only fitting for the San Francisco 49ers to absolutely blow out the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football to end the week. Week 11 kicks off tomorrow as the red-hot New England Patriots are touchdown favorites against the Atlanta Falcons. But before the week begins, perhaps you would like to make adjustments to your fantasy football roster. You’ve already scrounged the waiver wire, so now could be the time to pull the trigger on a trade if your league’s deadline hasn’t already passed.

Predictive Fantasy Football Trade Targets:
[predict="trade-2021-11"]
RB Michael Carter, New York Jets
The rookie running back in New York has accounted for 673 total yards on 133 touches. He has found the end zone four times, including last week against a tough Buffalo Bills defense. As we gear up for the final few weeks of the fantasy football regular season, fantasy owners have realized that Carter is the most dynamic player on the Jets’ offense. Not only is he an effective rusher, but he contributes plenty in the passing game. That makes him an ideal target in PPR formats. Carter has caught 22 passes over the Jets’ last four games. If he continues at that rate, he will easily be a solid RB2 moving forward. Carter is being traded at the highest rate heading into Week 11. Considering his breakout performance against the Bengals in Week 8 (172 total yards, nine receptions, and one rushing touchdown), his upside is immense.

RB James Conner, Arizona Cardinals
Conner got off to a slow start this season but is now absolutely on fire heading into a Week 11 meeting with the Seattle Seahawks. Over his last eight games, Conner leads the league in touchdowns with a whopping 12. He has turned 125 carries into 493 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He has also helped in the passing game with 13 receptions for 136 yards and an additional score. With Chase Edmonds sidelined, Conner is the clear-cut workhorse in Arizona’s backfield. Even with Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins expected to make their respective returns this week, Conner is a low-end RB1 moving forward. He was barely utilized in the passing game until Edmonds suffered his injury. Since then, Conner has caught eight passes in two games. Murray may steal some of Conner’s rushing attempts, but the Cardinals will be much better positioned to score touchdowns with the Murray-Hopkins connection back in action. That means plenty of goal-line touches for Conner in the upcoming weeks. Plus, Seattle’s rushing defense just allowed AJ Dillon to absolutely shred them in Week 10. If you are looking for a solid running back moving forward, Conner is the ideal target. That said, the Cardinals do have their bye week on the horizon in Week 12.

WR Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills
Fantasy owners were waiting for the breakout performance from Diggs and they fortunately got to witness it in Week 10. It was by far Diggs’ best game of the season, as he caught eight of the 13 balls thrown his way for 162 yards and a touchdown. So it makes sense that fantasy owners are targeting Diggs after his big game. However, as a Diggs owner myself, I’m not trading him despite his value being higher than it’s been since the beginning of the season. Diggs is a top-five wideout in fantasy football and is still Josh Allen’s favorite target. It would take a lot for me to even consider parting ways with the top wide receiver in one of the best passing offenses in the league.

WR A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans
Ever since Derrick Henry suffered his injury, Brown has been largely ineffective. With Julio Jones back on Injured Reserve as well, Brown is being double-teamed by opposing defenses, making it very difficult for him to get open. In Week 9, Brown caught just five of his 11 targets for 42 yards. In Sunday’s victory over the Saints, Brown turned in his worst outing the season, catching a season-low one pass for a measly 16 yards. He was only targeted four times by quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the game. That said, Brown is still the most talented skill player left on the Titans’ offense. His owners may be frustrated with his recent lack of production so now could be the perfect time to get him at a discount. Don’t forget that prior to his last two poor performances, he broke 100 yards and scored a touchdown in each of his previous two games. Brown is the ideal buy-low candidate heading into Week 11.
WR Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys
Cooper began the season with a bang, as he hauled in 13-of-16 targets for 139 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since then, he’s been quite the disappointment as CeeDee Lamb leapfrogged him on the depth chart to become Dak Prescott’s go-to wide receiver. In his last two games, Cooper has only managed six receptions for 88 yards. While you might think this is an opportunity to get Cooper on the cheap, I would recommend staying far away from the inconsistent production of the former Raider. The Cowboys still love to run the ball with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, and they have tons of playmakers at the wide receiver position now that Michael Gallup has returned from his injury. I have absolutely zero interest in Cooper, and I cannot understand why fantasy owners are targeting him at such a high rate heading into Week 11. I’d advise fantasy owners to stay far away from Cooper.

RB Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team
The second-year running back had his best outing of the 2021 season in Washington’s 29-19 upset victory over Tom Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champions. Gibson saw a season-high 24 carries and rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns. He also chipped in with two receptions for an additional 14 yards. Although Gibson has his best performance from a fantasy perspective, his value is still very dependent on scoring touchdowns. Washington has been giving more touches to pass-catching running back J.D. McKissic and even rookie Jarret Patterson. If you own Gibson, now is the perfect time to sell high. Gibson has not produced at the level fantasy owners expected when they drafted him in the second or third round before the season. If you can get a viable RB2 in return for Gibson, it’s worth pulling the trigger on the deal.
