Week 11: Predicting Fantasy Football's Most Dropped Players
It’s been perhaps the craziest two-week period across the National Football League with wild upsets, underperforming studs, injuries to key players such as Aaron Jones, and COVID-19 absences to players such as Nick Chubb and Ben Roethlisberger. Heading into Week 11 with the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos on byes, it’s pivotal to not only add the right guys off the waiver wire, but to also make sure you drop the player who will provide the least value moving forward. It’s important to always look to improve your roster, especially so close to the fantasy postseason. Cutting underperforming players is simply a necessary evil. But to help you drop the right players, Fantasy SP is hooking premium subscribers up with Predictive Analytics.

Now, who are the players fantasy owners are giving up on heading into Week 11?
Predicting Week 11 Fantasy Football Drops
[predict="drop-2021-11"]
QB Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts
After tossing eight touchdown passes and rushing for an additional score over his previous three outings, Wentz was dreadful against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10. Wentz managed just 180 scoreless yards, although he did a good job of holding onto the football. Still, it was an awful performance against a defense that tends to struggle against opposing quarterbacks. Now Wentz has a matchup looming in Week 11 with a Buffalo Bills defense that allows the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and only permits 0.7 passing touchdowns per game. Not to mention, the Colts still have a bye coming up in Week 14. I understand why fantasy owners are dropping Wentz, but due to the limited options at the quarterback position, I think this is a case of overreacting to one poor performance. While I don’t suggest starting Wentz in Week 11, fantasy owners shouldn’t give up on him just yet.

RB Devontae Booker, New York Giants
Although Booker filled in admirably for Saquon Barkley during the superstar’s absence, Barkley is trending towards a Week 11 return when the Giants take on Tampa Bay’s fierce run defense. When Barkley has been active, Booker has barely been involved in the offense. He will serve as a chance-of-pace back and nothing more. While he might have a decent-sized role in Week 11 with Barkley still easing back to full strength, it’s safe to drop Booker if you can get someone with more upside. That said, Barkley owners should still hold onto Booker in case the injury-prone Barkley goes down again.

RB Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints
With Alvin Kamara out in Week 10, Ingram served as New Orleans’ primary back. Ingram turned 14 carries into 47 rushing yards and a touchdown. He also caught four passes on seven targets for 61 receiving yards. Ingram has plenty of upside in the Saints’ run-first offense, but with Kamara expected to return in Week 11 against the Eagles, Ingram will be relegated to backup duties. Similar to Booker, fantasy owners should hang on to Ingram if they own Kamara for handcuff purposes. Otherwise, it’s completely understandable why fantasy owners are dropping Ingram at such a high rate heading into Week 11.

RB Adrian Peterson, Tennessee Titans
Do you think AP will find the end zone in Week 11? If you don’t believe he has a 100% change to score a touchdown, it’s safe to drop him from your roster. Peterson is incredibly touchdown dependent in a Tennessee offense that is currently featuring three running backs in the wake of Derrick Henry’s injury. It’s encouraging to see the 36-year-old getting touches, but D’Onta Foreman has outproduced Peterson in each of the first two Titans games since King Henry’s injury. Peterson has seen 18 carries over those two contests, yet he has only accumulated 42 rushing yards. He also has two catches for four yards. Peterson scored a touchdown in Week 9, but wasn’t utilized all that often in the Titans’ close victory over the Saints in Week 10. Foreman got 13 touches compared to Peterson’s nine on Sunday, and Jeremy McNichols is still involved (more so in the passing game). AP simply isn’t the player he once was and his floor makes him very difficult to trust in all but the deepest of leagues. It’s time to move on.
RB Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles
Although Miles Sanders isn’t expected back until Week 12, fantasy owners are deciding it’s time to cut ties with Howard. After scoring three touchdowns in his last two contests, Howard turned 12 carries into 81 scoreless yards. Howard hasn’t seen a single target in the passing game in any of the Eagles’ last three contests. Like Peterson, Howard is very touchdown dependent. That said, he does have three scores in three games. Even though the Eagles have a tough matchup against the Saints in Week 11, Howard might have flex appeal, especially in Standard formats. I wouldn’t drop Howard until Sanders returns from Injured Reserve. I think fantasy owners are making a mistake with this decision.
QB Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
After producing his best outing of the season in Week 9 with 343 passing yard, two passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown, Matty Ice crashed back to earth in Week 10 against the Cowboys. Despite a favorable matchup, Ryan managed just 117 passing yards and one interception while failing to find the end zone. The Falcons have a primetime matchup looming with the New England Patriots on Thursday, a much more difficult assignment than the Dallas secondary Ryan faced on Sunday. The Pats allow the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Considering Calvin Ridley is still not back and could be out for the rest of the season, along with Ryan’s poor play as of late, plus the difficult matchup ahead of him, it makes sense to drop Ryan for someone like Cam Newton.
[lastten="Matt Ryan"]
WR Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons
Just like Ryan, Gage put up a dud of a performance against the Cowboys on Sunday. Gage couldn’t haul in any of his three targets and left fantasy owners with a goose egg. Gage has been incredibly inconsistent this season and only has 16 receptions for 159 yards and one touchdown on the season. Fantasy owners should absolutely drop Gage ahead of his tough matchup with the Patriots.
