2021 Fantasy Football: Week 3 Tight End Waiver Wire Pickups

Matt Brandon Sep 21st 6:38 PM EDT.

Week 2 is in the books. I hope you are all off to a great 2-0 start using FantasySP’s Predictive analytics. To access this tool, log into your account, and utilize the Fantasy Assistant. From there, you can see the predictive analytics for adds, drops, trades, and FAAB.

Predictive analytics in a nutshell is a game-changer for fantasy players. No one else in the industry offers these types of insights. You will now be able to analyze the most important fantasy metrics of the current week BEFORE waivers are processed.

Find out the Expected Waiver Interest (EWI) of each player, as well as how much of your FAAB budget it would take to get “your guy” in the average league. You will now have unique insights into which players fantasy owners are giving up on and which players fantasy owners are fighting for in the current week.

So with that, let’s take a look at the top tight ends to target this week on the waiver wire.

Maxx Williams, Arizona Cardinals

Any tight end who sees seven targets is worth waiver wire consideration. Tight end is easily the thinnest position of all, but people seem to forget that Maxx Williams was a second-round pick just a few years ago. He never amounted to much, but he also didn’t have Kyler Murray slinging the rock. The Cardinals don’t have many tight ends challenging Williams for the top spot on the depth chart so Williams could be worthy of a roster spot in the deepest of leagues.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

With Jarvis Landry out and Odell Beckham still trying to get back on the field, Njoku may see a slight increase in reps. He’s a talented guy and although Austin Hooper is the primary pass-catching tight end on the Browns, Cleveland likes to run a lot of plays with two tight ends on the field. Njoku’s athleticism will help him as he attempts to keep Cleveland’s aerial attack alive in the wake of the Landry injury.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Until he is owned in more leagues, I’m going to keep recommending the rookie out of Notre Dame as a potential backup tight end. Big Ben loves to target his tight ends and Eric Ebron is moving towards the tail end of his career. Not to mention, Ebron has some of the worst hands in the National Football League! Freiermuth is the future at the tight end position in Pittsburgh. And because he is decent at blocking for a rookie tight end, he should see some volume. And as we all know by now, opportunities lead to fantasy points.

Dan Arnold, Carolina Panthers

Ever since Greg Olson left the Panthers, Carolina has been looking for a solid tight end. In comes Dan Arnold, who is already familiar with Joe Brady’s offense from his time with the Saints. The Sam Darnold to Dan Arnold connection will be fun to watch in 2021.
