Julio Jones, Julian Edelman & DeAndre Hopkins Injured
Fantasy Football For Breakfast is running a little late but the news doesn't stop. So let's jump right into it. Follow me on Twitter, @mattkdelima
Edelman to Miss 3 Weeks of Camp
NEWS: Julian Edelman is expected to miss three weeks of training camp due to a left thumb injury.
ANALYSIS: Edelman to me is the Little Engine That Could. He's 33 years old and the numbers are still there. In 12 games last year he had 74-850-6 and we all saw the postseason he had.
The floor for him is extremely high and you probably couldn't find a better floor in his ADP range (34.2). The tricky thing is there is still a lot of upside in the draft at the end of Round 3 so you can draft a guy like Brandin Cooks or Kenny Golladay or Tyler Lockett and end up with a guy who has an outside shot to make the jump into the elite WR1 status. Yet I don't feel Edelman has that same upside. His ADP seems to be sagging even though we should know by now that he's pretty much a lock for 80-1000-6 if given 16 games. So you have to measure how much you appreciate or how much your team would require the "safety" that comes with drafting him vs. the elusive upside or ceiling we're always chasing in this game.

Jones Still Rehabbing Foot Injury
NEWS: Julio Jones is still rehabbing a foot injury that was with him at the end of last season.
ANALYSIS: I genuinely feel Julio Jones is like the McLaren of wide receivers. McLaren, at least as I understand it, is the most expensive, most powerful supercar out there. I don't know enough about cars to know if that's true but I'm sure it's up there anyway.
That said, we all know by now Jones is an absolute monster. But because he's so fast and so strong and so athletic that I think it's impossible for him to truly ever be 100 percent. He plays with such a controlled reckless abandon that something will get tweaked sooner or later. And so like most sports cars, they can be very touchy and end up in the garage. This is the life of the supercar owner and Fantasy owners of Jones.
You have to live with the risk and accept that this badass player will always be some sort of banged up and you have to endure that "Q" tag next to his name every week.
This is all to say that I expect nothing less from Jones in 2019 and this news should not deter you unless it persists well beyond the first three weeks of camp. If you end up with him and aren't thrilled to have Julio as your WR1, then you don't know how to play this game. He always has the potential to finish the season as Fantasy's high-scoring WR.
Hopkins Begins Camp on Active/PUP List
NEWS: DeAndre Hopkins is recovering from a shoulder injury and will begin training camp on the active/PUP list.
ANALYSIS: The active/PUP list does make me feel a little better because the reserve/PUP list is when you have to basically downgrade a guy into oblivion. However, hearing that Hopkins had ligaments "torn off the bone" last season sounds pretty brutal. I like my ligaments attached and in place, that's just me though.
At first blush, I've got a healthy optimism but shoulders and really anything in your core can really linger and it's easy to get it flared up again. I'm not ready to commit to dropping Hopkins from the "No. 1 Fantasy WR in the game" pedestal just yet. But I totally understand if you'd want move him down a couple slots until this situation finds a resolution. This story will pop up almost daily between now and Week 1 so you have to try to absorb all the news that comes out and watch him play (assuming he does) to know how to really feel about it. For those who love to draft early and don't have the time to be patience, follow your gut and live with your choices!
