Who Will Replace Jay Ajayi?
With the news out that Jay Ajayi will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL, the Eagles will be looking to replace him. Will they look to their own backfield or possibly trade for Le'Veon Bell?
As it stands right now Bell is scheduled to report back to the Steelers for week eight, and finally take the field for the first time this season.
The Eagles saw a lot of great production from Wendell Smallwood on Sunday. He ran for 27 yards and caught three of four targets for 44 yards and a touchdown. Those are impressive numbers from a running back who hasn't been showing much flare this season. Smallwood is owned in 14% of leagues and being started in 32%. This number will increase now that Ajayi is done for the season. Smallwood should see an increased load in the coming weeks.
Cory Clement is another option to replace Ajayi, but he is also dealing with an injured quad. Clement did not take the field on Sunday and was only active in case of emergency. Hopefully the quad issue gets resolved quickly and he can take the field on Thursday night against the Giants. Clement is owned in 36% leagues and starts in 9%. If you can get your hands on him he's a good pickup.
Darren Sproles is the last running back on the Eagles, and its hard to suggest him since he hasn't played since week three. Sproles has been dealing with a hamstring issue and hasn't even been practicing. He is owned in 9% of leagues and being started in 1%. I would steer clear of picking him up until he starts practicing again!
