6 Wide Receivers to Target for Week 3
Time to hit the waiver wire again before week three starts on Thursday!
Each passing week in football we see the players on our team get beat up, benched, or flourish in their role. Its tough to know who will do what, but if you are striving to make it through the season, pickups are very important. This week we will look at six wide receivers that might not have flashy names, but have potential to help out your team.
Let's start over in Green Bay with Geronimo Allison. As it stands now he is the number three receiver on the depth chart with numbers almost exactly the same as Randall Cobb. Allison had two less targets than Cobb on Sunday and two more than tight-end Jimmy Graham. Catching six targets and going for 64 yards is a decent amount of fantasy points from a number two receiver on your team. Right now Allison is owned in 43% of leagues and being started in 16%.
D.J. Moore with the Carolina Panthers caught his first pass on Sunday for 51 yards and hauled it in for a touchdown. Moore will be used more in the upcoming weeks according to coach Ron Rivera. Even though its scary to think about grabbing a guy with only one reception, Moore should be the exception. He is owned in a mere 30% of leagues and only being started in 3%. Expect this number to rise in the coming weeks, and possibly seeing a superstar rise.
Over in Baltimore, John Brown is worth a look this week. Brown sees most of the deep balls thrown from Flacco and that won't be changing anytime soon. This past Sunday Brown had four receptions for a team high 92 yards and a touchdown. Bye weeks are fast approaching and Brown is a fantasy point machine right now. He is definitely worth adding to your team and possibly taking over the second wide receiver slot. He is owned in 38% of leagues and being started in 20%.
The Cincinnati Bengals seem to have a clear number two receiver on their team, Tyler Boyd. Boyd had a touchdown with 91 yards and caught six of nine targets on Sunday. A.J. Green had only two more targets which for Boyd is a good sign of trust. Boyd will be Andy Daltons go to, especially when Green is under double coverage. He is an easy pickup this week only being owned in 3% of leagues and being started in 12%. He might not be super flashy but numbers don't lie.
The last two receivers are worth a mention and might be more valuable in the coming weeks.
Antonio Callaway might see more action now that the Browns have traded away Josh Gordon. There is no official news on how big Callaway's role will be moving forward, but he has room to grow.
Terrelle Pryor on the Jets is another receiver to keep an eye out for. The Jets have improved from previous seasons, and Pryor is seeing the second most amount of targets on the team.
So moving into week three these are some of the wide receivers that we scouted out to help aid in the decision making process! Hope week three brings a W to your team!
