Best Strategy for Drafting Wide Receivers in Fantasy Football
The 2018 football season starts in exactly 30 days! It is time to get all your football gear ready to wear as you cheer on your team and enjoy every Sunday they way they should be!
This is also a very busy time for fantasy football players to start strategizing for their upcoming draft dates.
For as long as I can remember, running backs have been the top picks in the draft and always go first. Every year I watch each player before me pick and wait to see who I can land, usually I'm at the tail end of the draft order...
Waiting pick after pick usually stirs up lots of anxiety! Who will be left? Do I jump ship and grab a wide receiver? Should I draft a wide receiver? Oh man I'm going to draft a wide receiver in round one! Boom! Just like that I've used my first pick to grab the number one wide receiver of the year! In that moment I don't have buyers remorse, I'm hopeful that my top pick will lead my team to the championship game and ultimate victory!
Wide receivers are just as electrifying as running backs and can still bring in a ton of fantasy points. Receivers seem to have a better shelf life too, their bodies seem to endure more years than running backs do. In recent years the stats show that receivers production has gone down a bit. If you are nervous and don't want to take a chance with a new strategy, this stat can keep you in the running back world.
Being able to grab a top wide receiver in either the first or second round is a great strategy for your draft. You can grab the number one receiver in round one and pick up a strong running back for round two. After the top 10 running backs are gone the next 11-20 are fairly even in what kind of production you can expect from them. You have a chance at having a more rounded fantasy team drafting a wide receiver for your first pick.
