Is Andrew Luck safe to draft in 2018?
The news just broke that Andrew Luck has been cleared to fully participate in training camp with the Indianapolis Colts. Colts fans are probably relieved that their guy is finally back and the quarterback drama is over.
But what does this mean for fantasy owners? Is Andrew Luck safe to draft as your quarterback? We are early into draft season for 2018, but as it stands today Luck has an ADP of 129. This puts Luck at roughly the 19th quarterback in most leagues.
Obviously as the 19th ranked quarterback, it means that he will not be a starter on 99% of fantasy football leagues out there. Right now Luck is being drafted behind guys like Jameis Winston and Eli Manning, which I disagree with completely.
Andrew Luck should rise in ADPs as the offseason continues and reports come out that he looks like his old self.
It is unlikely that Winston will be more valuable than Andrew Luck based on his ho-hum performance last year and the fact he is guaranteed to miss 3 games.
As for Eli Manning? Well, he put up bad numbers even when his recieving core was healthy so I would certainly steer clear of him.
So to answer the original question if he's safe to draft, the answer would be yes. However, I would not draft him as a starting quarterback on your fantasy team unless it is a 2QB league.
Assuming Luck stays on track this camp, I would put him at the 16th or 17th spot for ADP rankings. His best year was in 2014, and I don't see 2018 being a career year for him.
He may struggle at times and probably miss a few games. The last time he played a full season was back in 2014. However, Luck is a guy you could safely start given a favorable matchup or fill in as a bye-week replacement for your starting quarterback.
