What the Adrian Peterson trade means for the Cardinals backfield
In shocking news, the New Orleans Saints have traded Adrian Peterson, first reported by Dianna Russini, to the Arizona Cardinals.
Peterson was doing absolutely nothing on the Saints with coach Sean Payton basically giving up on him after such high praise was said during the pre-season and training camp.
Expect Peterson to take over as the lead back in Arizona as soon as possible. He may not get much work against the Bucs in Week 6, but he should soon start to see 10-15 touches in Week 7 once he gets up to speed with the offense.
Peterson is only owned in 41% of leagues and is worth picking up in hopes that he can start back on the right track in Arizona since they are clearly desperate at the running back position.
Chris Johnson may or may not stick around with the team after last week's 9 carries for 21 yards. It all depends on how Peterson performs moving forward with his new team.
Meanwhile Ellington is still safe to own, especially in PPR leagues since he is so heavily involved in the passing game.
